About the Role:
We are looking for a pragmatic, people-focused HR Director to lead our HR function in a fast-moving, growing business. This is a hands-on senior leadership role, responsible for shaping our people strategy while managing day-to-day HR operations.
The HR Director will oversee a small but capable team, including a Talent Acquisition Manager, Senior HR Specialist, and Office Manager. Together with the Senior HR Specialist, the HR Director will be directly involved in payroll-related activities, ensuring compliance,accuracy and timely processing. As a key partner to the CEO and leadership team, you will align the HR agenda with business goals while maintaining compliance, efficiency, and nurturing a people-first culture.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership
* Develop and implement a fit-for-purpose HR strategy aligned with overall business goals.
* Advise and support the executive team on all people-related matters.
* Lead organisational design, workforce planning, and succession initiatives.
* Drive change and continuous improvement in line with business growth.
People Operations and Compliance
* Ensure compliant, efficient HR operations, including contracts, policies, and employee records.
* Stay up to date with employment legislation and regulatory changes.
* Manage and oversee payroll responsibilities in collaboration with the Senior HR Specialist, ensuring accurate processing and compliance with legal requirements.
* Lead the implementation and optimisation of HR systems and tools (e.g. HRIS, payroll software, training platforms).
Talent Acquisition and Development
* Provide strategic guidance to the Talent Acquisition Manager to ensure high-quality, timely hiring aligned with workforce plans.
* Promote internal mobility, development plans and succession pipelines.
* Lead performance management and capability frameworks that support growth and accountability.
Culture and Engagement
* Champion a positive, inclusive, and values-driven working environment.
* Develop and implement employee engagement strategies with clear, measurable outcomes.
* Act as a trusted advisor on employee relations, wellbeing, and conflict resolution.
Leadership and Team Development
* Lead, coach and develop the HR team to ensure effective delivery across all HR disciplines.
* Set clear priorities, foster collaboration, and encourage continuous development within the team.
* Ensure alignment across HR, talent, payroll, and administrative functions.
Key Requirements
* Proven experience in senior HR leadership role, ideally at Director or Head .of HR level.
* Solid knowledge of employment law, payroll processes, and HR operations.
* Experience managing or directly overseeing payroll in a compliant and confidential manner.
* Demonstrable ability to build and implement people strategies in a growing or fast-paced environment.
* Commercially astute with excellent interpersonal and influencing skills.
* Comfortable leading both strategic initiatives and operational tasks.
* Experience leading and developing a small, cross-functional HR team.
Preferred Qualifications
* Degree in Human Resources, Business, or a related discipline.
* Experience in a scaling organisation or SME environment preferred.
