IDD Habilitation Specialist

Seek to understand the individuals in the context of their personal history, social and family networks, and their hopes and dreams for the future. Responsibilities include teaching support staff, writing programs, mentoring, assessing daily living skills, and ensuring compliance with regulations. Develop programs focused on self-esteem, independence, health, and social roles. Conduct Quality Assurance assessments and Personal Outcome Interviews.
Qualifications:
* High school diploma or G.E.D. required; a four-year degree in a human service field and one year of experience preferred.
Physical Requirements:
* Ability to lift up to 40 lbs., pull 25 lbs., squat, kneel, crawl, crouch, climb, and stop. Must demonstrate proficiency in CPR and have adequate vision and hearing.
Ideal Candidate:
Passionate about helping individuals with disabilities, capable of using assessment tools, and fostering teamwork through strong communication skills.
Responsibilities:
* Conduct Quality Assurance assessments.
* Develop and implement personal outcome programs.
* Train and support home care staff.
* Evaluate and update client programs regularly.
* Participate in Personal Outcome Interviews.
Additional Requirements:
* Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, Social Services, Special Education, Psychology, or related field.
* One year of experience with the target population.
* Valid driver’s license and auto insurance.
* Ability to interpret professional and governmental documents.
* Pass background check and drug screening. Certifications like CPR and First Aid are a plus.
