Field Service Representative - Controls IRL
Our After Sales & Service team in the IRL division is looking for a bright, ambitious Field Service Representative – Controls Engineering to design, develop, troubleshoot, and document complete control programs for custom automation equipment.
Responsibilities
Develop and program software (PLC and/or PC based) specific to customer requirements.
Troubleshoot controls and electrical equipment at the customer’s facility and make the necessary adjustments to bring equipment up to running status.
Report and correct abnormal equipment conditions and inaccurate actions by customer staff.
Work independently or as part of a team and ensure alignment with on‑site work plans.
Support the development of operating and troubleshooting knowledge for the operations team.
Review and suggest additional tools or equipment needed to better operate or maintain customer equipment.
Make recommendations for repair/replace only when needed.
Travel domestically and internationally for long‑term and short‑term support.
Lead on‑site team and liaise with customer and ATS Project Manager.
Coordinate third‑party vendors and assist in resolving technical issues as required.
Complete detailed Service Report for services provided daily/weekly and ensure customer issues are resolved through follow‑up communication.
Be available for on‑call, rotational basis.
Communicate with internal and external customers to understand needs and support resources accordingly.
Facilitate warranty/non‑warranty claims with the customer.
Adhere to all health and safety rules and procedures and perform all activities with the highest ethical standards.
Take initiative, demonstrate innovation, and maintain keen attention to detail.
Work effectively in a fast‑paced, multitasking environment with plant engineers, external vendors, operators and management.
Set an example of company culture, integrity and professional competence, adhering to ATS Quality Procedures and policies.
Qualifications
Post‑secondary diploma or degree in programming/electrical engineering or equivalent.
Minimum of four years of hands‑on automation/controls experience.
3+ years programming PLCs and HMIs using Allen Bradley or Siemens software.
Experience with database/robot/vision systems is an asset.
Proficient with Microsoft Word and Excel.
Good communicator with strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with all management levels.
Ability to read drawings, reference manuals and system instruction guides.
Willingness to travel 50–75% of the month to customer sites.
