Overall Purpose of post To provide professional nursing skills in assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating the nursing care for assigned patients while providing exceptional patient care in an environment where quality, respect, caring, and compassion are at the centre of all we do. To provide clinical support to qualified staff nurses to enable staff nurses to become competent skilled and professional members of the multi-disciplinary team. To assist in supporting qualified staff nurses with developing skills and competencies in order to fulfil their roles and responsibilities in an ever changing health service. To facilitate undergraduate nursing students in the OT environment but not replace clinical staff remit. The person appointed to the post of Clinical Skills Facilitator will work to deliver a comprehensive programme of education, both practical skills and theory-based, best-evidenced nursing practice to all nursing staff working within this speciality. The Clinical Skills Facilitator will co-ordinate education and practical sessions for all new staff entering theatre. The Clinical Skills Facilitator will lead theatre nursing practice in conjunction with Theatre nursing manager and CNMs and enable nurses to examine their practice and identify how it can be improved. This will be done through staff development, continuing education programmes, clinical expertise, effective communication, managerial and leadership skills.
