Job Title: HGV MechanicsBased: Ballymount DepotReporting to: Engineering ManagerKey Responsibilities and tasksPerform routine safety inspections as trained in-house Perform Planned Maintenance and Corrective maintenance to a high standardBe comfortable around Auto electrics and general Fault findingUnderstanding of Euro 6 standards and sub engine equipmentBe able to attend roadside break downs and assess each fault as they comeUnderstand H&S rules and obey by these while conducting worksEnsure adherence to all relevant company policies and procedures.Ensure your working environment is maintained in a safe and tidy condition. To act proactively in identifying and any unsafe practices or safety risks in the organisation and reporting these through the appropriate channels.Ensure all tools are returned to the storage cupboard at the end of each shift, maintaining organization and inventory.Monitor the hazardous waste bin to ensure it is not overflowing and that the correct wastes are disposed of in the appropriate bins.Wash down the engine bay as new vehicles are brought into the workshop.Perform weekly and monthly inspection checks of workshop equipment, recording findings on Freeway.Oversee the tyre bay, ensuring rims are cleaned for tyre fitment.Conduct general checks on the fleet cars, vans, and training fleet, including oil, coolant levels, and tyre pressures, to ensure they are in good working orderResponsibility in managing, participating, and complying with the Integrated Management System (IMS).Knowledge and Skills Requirements:Essential:Relevant Engineering Qualification (level 6 minimum) Quality repair and preventative maintenance skills Ability to understand and execute training and instructionBasic mechanical skills with a focus on vehicle maintenance.Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.Ability to follow safety protocols and maintain a clean and orderly workshop.Good communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team.Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.Desirable:Good knowledge of Volvo and Mercedes-Benz productsStrong diagnostics capabilities with good computer skillsGood understanding of IT in order to use the Vehicle Maintenance SystemsFull clean B licenseCompetencies, desirable traits or attributes:Ability to work autonomously Decision maker Good communicator Clear and concise written skills Organised and efficient Positive attitude to safetyBenefits:Competitive wages with annual incrementsIn house and manufacturer trainingD Licence training and testingLife Assurance PlanPension Scheme after probationWorking in a state-of-the-art workshopCycle to Work schemeEmployee Assistance schemeKey Safety Responsibilities:To act in a manner as to ensure the health, safety, welfare, environment and fire safety of yourself and others in the organisation as well as any clients and visitors.Ensure that you and any guests to any company premises understand emergency and evacuation arrangements.Ensure your working environment is maintained in a safe and tidy condition.
