We are currently recruiting a Junior Safety Officer to support the EHS Engineering Group within a dynamic Capital Projects Team on a BioPharma client site in Cork. This role is integral to ensuring safety compliance across all Capital Projects on site. The Junior Safety Officer will also be responsible for training delivery and documentation management to ensure audit readiness and regulatory compliance.
Responsibilities
* Attend daily Capital and CORE project meetings.
* Review and approve contractor safety documentation and RAMS (Risk Assessments and Method Statements) via EIDA.
* Develop and maintain Construction Health and Safety Plans for active projects.
* Conduct weekly project and environmental audits.
* Support permitting systems including LOTO, confined space, and hot works.
* Manage isolation systems for construction activities.
* Track and report weekly/monthly safety statistics for contractors and project teams.
* Conduct and manage project-specific safety inductions.
* Participate in whiteboard meetings for CMT and project works.
* Compile and analyze monthly SOR safety statistics and trends.
* Ensure all personnel training is current and documented.
* Conduct On-the-Job Training (OJT) and assess cleanroom readiness.
* Monitor personnel performance in cleanrooms and determine suitability for independent work.
* Ensure all documentation is GMP/GDP compliant and audit-ready.
* Deliver cleanroom safety training to engineering and QC personnel across:
* Maintain training records and ensure compliance with training schedules.
* Prepare and maintain the Cleanroom Activity Monthly Tracker and Presentation.
* Liaise with QC Micro Manager to review trends in actions, alerts, and mold findings.
* Collaborate with Project Managers and Engineers on cleanroom-related projects.
* Review and approve protocols as needed.
* Support shutdown preparation, monitoring, and documentation.
* Assist in the preparation, review, and progression of Configuration Documents.
Qualifications
* Degree or diploma in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or related field.
* 1-2 years of experience in a safety or compliance role, preferably in a GMP-regulated environment.
* Familiarity with EHS regulations, GMP/GDP standards, and cleanroom protocols.
* Strong organizational and communication skills.
* Proficient in Microsoft Office and EHS management systems
* Detail-oriented with a proactive approach to safety and compliance.
* Comfortable delivering training and engaging with cross-functional teams.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
