Lawn Care Technician Job Description
The Lawn Care Technician role involves providing expert care for trees, shrubs, and lawns on client properties. This includes applying fertilizers, pesticides, herbicides, and fungicides using various equipment, as well as measuring, mixing, and preparing chemical solutions.
This is a seasonal position that requires the ability to safely operate vehicles and equipment, while also adhering to safety regulations and maintaining proper documentation.
Key responsibilities include:
* Applying fertilizers, pesticides, herbicides, and fungicides to client properties using various equipment
* Measuring, mixing, and preparing chemical solutions for trees, shrubs, and lawns
* Following work order specifications and maintaining proper documentation, including pesticide labels and Safety Data Sheets (SDS)
* Inspecting worksites for underground utilities and installations, and setting up traffic control and vehicle safety measures
* Diagnosing plant diseases and determining appropriate treatments
* Operating and maintaining sprayer equipment, including loading materials, filling tanks, and ensuring machinery efficiency
* Adhering to safety regulations, using safety equipment, and safely handling materials
* Performing site clean-up and maintenance tasks
* Communicating with clients about diagnoses and treatments
Qualifications for this role include:
* Being at least 18 years of age to work in the field
* Having a valid Driver's License and being at least 21 years of age to operate equipment as a Department of Transportation (DOT) certified driver for specific vehicles or equipment
* Successful completion in the Davey Tree Qualified Plant Health Care Technician training program or the ability to obtain qualification within 90 days of hire
* Ability to complete required safety courses and acquire applicator licenses as necessary per state requirements
* Ability to operate mobile power equipment
