Applications are now welcome for the role of GAA Safeguarding Coordinator who shall play a key role in the promotion of safeguarding and protection of children and young people in the Association. Reporting to the GAA Safeguarding Manager, the successful candidate will be a key member of the Associations National Safeguarding Team with specific responsibilities relating to safeguarding risk assessments, safeguarding compliance and any internal or external safeguarding audits or assessments.
Responsibilities Include
* Coordinate the completion of the Safeguarding Risk Assessment and Safeguarding Statement process at agreed intervals, as completed by Clubs, Counties, Provincial Councils and Central Council.
* Coordinate the completion of the Safeguarding Risk Assessment and Safeguarding Statement process for our oversea units.
* Develop and coordinate the completion of safeguarding compliance for Camps.
* Develop and coordinate a Quality Assurance analysis of Club and County Safeguarding Risk Assessments and Safeguarding Statements.
* Coordinate internal safeguarding audits and or safeguarding compliance assessments on our own units.
* Coordinate andassistthe participation of the Association, at all levels, in any external safeguarding audits or assessments.
* Deliver Risk Assessment and or audit process training to Clubs and Counties asrequired.
* Assistwith the implementation of theChild Safeguarding Policy.
* Respondto childsafeguardingcompliancequeries
* Represent the Association asappropriate onsafeguardingauditmattersin liaison with other Sports NGBs, Government Agencies and Departments, Association units and other relevant bodies asdeemedappropriate.
* Act as support to the National Child Safeguarding Committee and other units of Association asrequired.
* The position holder will also undertake any other such projects or responsibilities as mayreasonably bedelegated by his or herManager.
Requirements
Essential:
* A minimum of 3 years experience workingin the area ofsafeguarding and/or a relevant or relatedfield;
* A third level degree (Minimum Level 7 NFQ);
* Knowledge of child safeguarding legislation on the island of Ireland and GAA and Gaelic Games Associations safeguardingpolicies;
* Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively with internal and externalstakeholders;
* Exceptional organisational skills with proven experience in working to tight deadlines and achieving settargets;
* Ability tomaintainhigh levelof accuracy and attention to detail whilst working under pressure to strictdeadlines;
* Ability to work independently on own initiative and perform as part of ateam;
* Excellent administrative skills with a strong working knowledge of IT related packages and systems such as Microsoft Office (Excel,PowerPointand Word);
* An interest in, and understanding of the activities,objectives,policiesand structure of the GAA.
Desirable
* Previousexperience of working within the GAA (or similar organisation) at a professional or volunteercapacity;
* Experience in developing and or coordinating safeguarding risk assessment or audits.
