Project Director

Our client has recently restructured its operations across Ireland and the UK to deliver projects more efficiently across a range of portfolios.

This role of
Project Director
is specifically responsible for operations on a major project and plays a pivotal part in the ongoing growth and development of the business.

The Project Director is accountable for the financial performance of the project, including its ongoing management and reporting within the industrial operations structure. They are responsible for the successful delivery of the project—ensuring exceptional performance in health and safety, achieving financial KPIs, and meeting or exceeding client expectations in delivering high-quality results on time and within budget.

The Project Director will work closely with other senior leaders across HSQE and Sustainability, Finance, HR, Sales, Business Development, and Operations. They will manage a multidisciplinary team, including operations managers, project managers, engineers, commercial teams, and site management.

The Project Director will also hold full P&L responsibility for the project, including achieving margin and EBITDA targets.

Strategic Roles and Responsibilities:

* Report to the Industrial Operations Director on monthly project performance, ensuring robust monitoring of progress, risks, and opportunities.
* Report against budgeted turnover and track progress against EBITDA targets.
* Assist in compiling project budgets and forecasts.
* Ensure the project is adequately resourced for successful delivery for both the client and the organisation.
* Make strategic decisions aligned with project objectives and provide leadership to implement these effectively.
* Regularly review key performance indicators (KPIs) and benchmarks.
* Ensure all activities are compliant with organisational, legal, and statutory requirements for HSQE and duty of care.
* Lead by example on health, safety, quality, environment, and wellbeing. Conduct leadership site visits and safety interventions.
* Ensure key HSQE communications are consistently shared with project personnel.
* Support development of project plans, objectives, turnover, and profit forecasts in collaboration with senior leadership.
* Work closely with Commercial Management to manage all commercial and contractual issues.
* Promote and support sustainability and net zero carbon goals set by both the client and the organisation.

Client-Focused Responsibilities:

* Manage client and stakeholder expectations throughout the project lifecycle.
* Build and maintain strong working relationships with client representatives and internal stakeholders.
* Ensure consistent communication with the client to confirm their expectations are being met and exceeded.

Operational Responsibilities:

* Lead project planning, including resource planning, recruitment, and team structure. Coordinate with HR on staffing matters.
* Oversee contract negotiations with both the internal commercial team and the client.
* Ensure compliance with internal Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
* Monitor and drive construction activities, holding regular progress meetings with stakeholders.
* Support project and contract managers in developing cost-effective plans for efficient project completion.
* Manage risks to avoid delays or cost overruns.
* Ensure project teams are supervised effectively and are managing their respective teams properly.
* Oversee procurement and supply chain activities to meet project turnover targets.
* Promote and support the use of digital delivery tools, data environments, and relevant project management technologies. Provide ongoing feedback for improvement.

Reporting Duties:

* Prepare monthly project performance reports.
* Provide updated budget projections (cost to completion) as needed based on material changes.
* Submit quarterly performance reviews, including backlog and margin projections to year-end.

Meeting Attendance:

* Attend project-specific meetings as required.
* Participate in monthly management team meetings.
* Engage in regular one-on-one updates with the Industrial Operations Director.
