.
We are now seeking an International Compliance Manager to take ownership of our global compliance framework and help us maintain our reputation for integrity and excellence.
The Role
As International Compliance Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring Designer Group operates to the highest standards across all jurisdictions in which we deliver projects.
Reporting to the Chief Commercial Officer, you will act as the central point of expertise for compliance matters — spanning HSQE, labour law, technical standards, and supplier/subcontractor governance. Working closely with business support teams (Commercial Compliance, HR, Finance, HSQE, Engineering) and external advisors, you will design, implement, and oversee systems that protect our people, our projects, and our reputation.
Your remit will be international in scale. You will lead structured audits, identify and mitigate risks, and embed robust, repeatable processes to ensure Designer Group not only meets but exceeds compliance expectations worldwide.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead international compliance frameworks across multiple countries and business units.
* Develop, implement, and monitor systems covering:
* HSQE (Health, Safety, Quality & Environment) regulations
* Labour law and employment standards in multiple jurisdictions
* Technical compliance across engineering and project delivery
* Subcontractor and supplier regulatory/technical compliance
* Build and manage a structured programme of audits and internal reviews, reporting findings to the senior leadership team.
* Work alongside HR, Finance, HSQE, Engineering, and Commercial teams to ensure compliance is embedded in day-to-day operations.
* Collaborate with external advisors (legal, regulatory, tax, and safety) to ensure international best practice is applied.
* Proactively identify regulatory risks when entering or expanding into new markets.
* Produce regular reports and dashboards for the Chief Commercial Officer and Board, highlighting risks, trends, and opportunities for improvement.
* Support training, communication, and awareness programmes to build a culture of compliance across the organisation.
* Stay up to date with changing international laws and regulations and ensure Designer Group remains ahead of requirements.
About You
* Proven track record in compliance, governance, or regulatory management within construction, engineering, or a similar international environment.
* Strong working knowledge of HSQE, labour law, and technical compliance frameworks.
* Experience managing compliance across multiple jurisdictions is highly desirable.
* Skilled in designing and auditing compliance processes and systems.
* Excellent communicator with the ability to influence and engage senior stakeholders, external advisors, and project teams.
* Analytical thinker with strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
* Confident working independently but also collaborative by nature.
