Research Assistant (Digital Content & Community Engagement)
Position Overview
OurKidsCode are seeking an enthusiastic Research Assistant to support our digital presence, assist in developing engaging educational and promotional content, and help build a thriving online community of support for OurKidsCode clubs across Ireland. This role combines creative content development with strategic community management, providing an excellent opportunity for someone looking to develop their expertise in instructional design and modern digital marketing practices, whilst building awareness and responsiveness of OurKidsCode community support needs for fresh and interesting materials.
Key Responsibilities
Digital Marketing & Communications
* Develop and execute comprehensive social media strategies across relevant platforms
* Create compelling content for social media, including graphics, videos, and written posts
* Design, write, and distribute regular newsletters to engage stakeholders and community members
* Monitor social media metrics and adjust strategies based on performance data
* Maintain brand consistency across all digital touchpoints
Website Management
* Website development, maintenance, and regular updates
* Ensure optimal user experience through intuitive navigation and responsive design
* Manage WordPress and implement Accessibility and SEO best practices
* Coordinate with TCD technical teams for website improvements and troubleshooting
* Monitor website analytics and user engagement metrics
Video Content Production
* Develop video content in partnership with project stakeholders
* Plan, script, and coordinate video production from concept to final delivery
* Manage video editing processes and ensure high-quality output
* Optimise video content for various platforms and audiences
* Maintain video content libraries and ensure proper documentation
Educational Content Development & Instructional Design
* Supporting our core team who develop programme materials, you will be designing and developing workshop project guides using instructional design principles
* Create engaging, accessible educational content across multiple formats and platforms
* Develop and maintain a curated digital resource library for easy access and discoverability
* Collaborate with subject matter experts to transform complex information into user-friendly materials and online content
Community Management & Engagement
* Build and nurture an online community for our growing network of OurKidsCode clubs who meet in their local community centres and schools across Ireland
* Facilitate meaningful discussions and respond to community enquiries promptly
* Organise virtual events, webinars, and identify local community initiatives for cross-promotion and engagement
* Analyse community engagement metrics and implement improvement strategies
Administrative Support & Coordination
* Provide administrative support to team members and leadership
* Support team communication and collaboration efforts
Essential Requirements
Education & Experience
* Degree in Marketing, Communications, Instructional Design, Digital Media, or related field
* 1 years' experience in digital content creation, community management, or related roles (including internships and placements)
* Some experience or academic background in instructional design and educational content development
Technical Skills
* Experience with website management and content management systems (WordPress or similar)
* Experience with graphic design tools (Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, or similar)
* Knowledge of video editing software and production workflows
* Familiarity with social media management platforms and analytics tools
* Experience with email marketing platforms and newsletter tools (Mailchimp)

* Good ability to handle multiple tasks across various project activity strands and timelines
* Strong written and verbal communication skills
* Creative problem-solving abilities and attention to detail
* Good understanding of digital marketing principles and best practices
* Awareness of accessibility standards and inclusive design principles
* Ability to work independently with guidance whilst collaborating effectively with team members
Desirable Requirements
* Experience with community platform management (Discord, Slack, Facebook Groups, etc.)
* Certification in instructional design or digital marketing
* Experience in social enterprise, voluntary or educational organisations
* Some prior knowledge of Scratch or Make Code would be helpful

* Time frame:
Full time role: 35 hrs per week. (Hours negotiable depending on the candidate)
* Salary:
€33,291 per annum (Research Ireland RA Scale, Point 1). Statutory holiday entitlements apply
* Location:
Trinity College Dublin, Dublin 2 (hybrid negotiable)
* Contract:
12 Months, with a view to extending beyond contingent on funding
* Probation period:
Three-month probation period
