Job Title

QC Laboratory Apprentice


Reports To

QC Team Leader


Job Purpose

This role requires a commitment to quality, applying sound practices and good technical skills.


Personal Qualities

The QC Apprentice will be trained to possess the following skills:

* Operate equipment and instruments effectively according to SOPs.
* Work safely within the laboratory.
* Have theoretical knowledge of relevant sciences and technology.
* Handle materials and equipment correctly, respecting safety and environmental regulations.
* Perform basic chemistry techniques, including use of pipettes, auto-titrators, pH meters, weighing, diluting, volumetric calculations, Karl Fischer, TLC, and physical testing.
* Identify equipment malfunctions and inform the QC Team Leader.

General Responsibilities

* Understand scientific fundamentals and cGMP principles.
* Comprehend quality systems and their importance.
* Work safely, maintaining good housekeeping and following safety protocols.
* Understand basic chemistry, microbiological techniques, and pharmacopoeias.
* Log and receive samples properly.
* Perform water testing, raw material, in-process, and finished product testing.
* Maintain data integrity and accurate recording.
* Label reagents and samples correctly.
* Conduct investigations for out-of-specification results.
* Manage procurement of QC consumables.
* Understand production processes and calibrate equipment as needed.
* Report and participate in GLP/GMP compliance activities.
* Complete safety reports and participate in cross-functional training.
* Promote Takeda’s corporate values.
* Complete all SOPs, training, and assessments timely.
* Perform other duties as assigned.


Educational Requirements / Relevant Experience

For entry into Year 1 of Level 6 QC Apprenticeship Program:

* Pass (Grade O6 or better) in five Leaving Certificate subjects, including maths and a science subject.
* 250 CAO points.

Or:

* Relevant FETAC Level 5 or Level 6 Graduate.
* Current employee with relevant experience and qualifications.

Before enrolling in the apprenticeship program, the apprentice must have SOLAS apprentice approval.
