Job Description
As a Document Control Lead, you will oversee and coordinate all document control activities across a major construction project, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and compliance with company and client requirements. You will lead a team of document controllers and administrators, supporting project delivery teams and maintaining the highest standards of document management throughout the project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead and supervise the document control function across project teams, ensuring efficient workflows and compliance with document control procedures.
* Manage and maintain document control systems and platforms (e.g., Asite, Aconex), ensuring correct setup, access control, and data integrity.
* Act as the main point of contact for all document control queries and interface with client representatives regarding documentation standards.
* Oversee the preparation, issuance, and tracking of all project documentation, including drawings, submittals, and transmittals.
* Develop and implement project-specific document control procedures and ensure adherence by all stakeholders.
* Provide training, guidance, and ongoing support to document control staff and project teams.
* Prepare and analyse document control reports, tracking key metrics and identifying areas for process improvement.
* Support onboarding/offboarding processes for project personnel and maintain accurate records of project documentation.
* Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary project teams including Construction, Engineering, and Quality to ensure smooth communication and documentation flow.
Skills And Requirements
* Minimum 5 years' experience in document control within the construction or engineering industry, including at least 2 years in a lead or supervisory role.
* Proficient in document control platforms such as Asite, Aconex, BIM360 or equivalent.
* Strong IT skills, with advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (including formulae, linking, and data analysis) and other Office/Google tools.
* Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to train, mentor, and manage a small team.
* Highly organised with exceptional attention to detail and the ability to prioritise under pressure.
* Strong understanding of project documentation standards and quality requirements within a construction environment.
* Knowledge of BIM workflows and ISO 19650 standards is an advantage.
* Training on company-specific systems will be provided.
