The role of the EHS Advisor is to provide Environment, Health, and Safety guidance working with the project team. You will implement and maintain the management system for the project. The role is to coordinate all EHS matters within various Project Management Teams and report constructively all EHS matters to the Project Manager. Under the direction of the EHS Manager, the EHS Advisor will support Project Managers, supervisors, and workers. This position provides leadership and coordination of the day-to-day EHS requirements of the assigned project(s). The role may require full-time placement on a project or working across multiple projects, with frequent travel and possible overnight stays.

Responsibilities include:

1. Providing advice, guidance, support, and instruction in all EHS matters to management, safety representatives, employees, subcontractors, suppliers, and visitors.
2. Leading by example and proactively managing EHS issues.
3. Identifying training needs, reporting requirements, and conducting training sessions.
4. Auditing and inspecting projects, developing corrective and preventive actions for compliance and improvement.
5. Reporting on EHS risks, KPIs, and trends, and recommending improvements.
6. Ensuring incidents are reported and investigated thoroughly to identify root causes and corrective actions.
7. Updating and reviewing Site EHS Plans, RAMS, and related documents to ensure statutory compliance.
8. Reporting to EHS Manager, Site Managers/Supervisors, and Project Managers.
9. Being familiar with safety statements, environment manuals, risk assessments, legislation, and procedures.
10. Carrying out internal audits and site inspections, recommending improvements.
11. Preparing project-specific EHS Plans, inductions, and RAMS in coordination with site management.
12. Ensuring all EHS documentation is current and communicated to relevant parties.
13. Setting up site safety files, posters, and compliance measures for new projects.
14. Reviewing contractor appointments for competence and compliance.
15. Implementing measures to prevent incidents and reporting any incidents or dangerous occurrences.
16. Investigating incidents and recommending future prevention methods.
17. Auditing safety files, assessing hazards, and ensuring control measures are in place.
18. Preparing monthly KPI reports, site visit schedules, and other EHS documentation.
19. Providing training and information to the workforce and maintaining training records.
20. Attending regional and internal EHS meetings and promoting safety initiatives.
21. Managing site safety equipment, PPE, and first aid provisions.
22. Issuing non-conformances, commendations, and disciplinary warnings as needed.

Requirements

* Over 3 years' experience in the industry, preferably with electrical, mechanical, and CSA knowledge.
* Diploma to NFQ 8 in Occupational H&S, Certificate to NFQ 6 in Environmental Management, and relevant safety certifications (Safe Pass, CSCS UK, Train the Trainer, First Aid).
* Experience as an internal ISO14000 and ISO45000 system auditor.
* Knowledge of Construction Regulations, CDM roles, and working with subcontractors.
* Experience with EHS Management Systems, safety schemes, and tendering processes (ISO, Achilles, SSiPs).
* Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
* Ability to work with client, main contractor safety, and project teams.
* Ability to meet strict deadlines and prepare high-standard audits and reports.
* Knowledge of legislation, standards, and compliance requirements.
* Proactive attitude in identifying and addressing safety acts and issues.
* Ability to lead incident investigations and apply root cause analysis.
* Membership in IOSH or equivalent.
