Our client is looking to employ a Production Manager, based in Clayville, Johannesburg.

Responsibilities
* Human Resources function.
* Ensure adequate trained staff are in place to meet production demands effectively.
* Keep subordinates informed and compliant with company policies.
* Adhere to the company’s disciplinary procedures when necessary.
* Engage with Human Resources for support when needed.
* Working with Managers, Supervisors/ Staff to ensure plant output.
Quality Policies and Procedure
* Ensure quality control measures are in place and followed.
* Verify product weights and label accuracy against the filling plan.
* Double-check yields before releasing batch cards.
* Confirm correct warehouse labels are used.
* Establish and agree on internal procedures, standards, and specifications.
* Ensure manufacturing processes meet established standards.
* Monitor and audit operational processes.
Equipment
* In the event of a breakdown you are expected to promptly react in order to reduce unplanned downtime.
Production Output
* Administration.
* Optimize use of filling lines according to the production plan for efficiency.
* Calculate and communicate additional packaging needs based on batch yields.
* Ensure machines run at standard speeds and aim for 95% efficiency.
* Use correct production month stickers and avoid using defective pallets.
* Manage daily production operations and coordinate with other departments.
* Collect and analyze plant data to improve output.
* Handle rework stock and identify opportunities for reusing discontinued or non-standard items
* Health and Safety.
* Maintain a safe working environment at all times.
* Conduct annual risk assessments with support from the Factory and Maintenance Manager.
* Ensure subordinates are provided with and correctly use appropriate PPE.
Stock take
* Identify and resolve batch variances and non-conformances.
* Ensure stock take preparation is completed the day before.
* Verify variances by end of stock take day.
* Provide explanations for any stock take discrepancies.
* Housekeeping.
* Ensure that your designated area/s is kept neat and tidy at all times.
* All products must be clearly identified.
Minimum Requirements
* Matric is a must!
* Minimum 5 – 10 years’ experience in a Production Manager
* Manufacturing experience is a must / Paint manufacturing would be preferred
* Own transport is essential
* Computer literate on MS Word, Excel and Powerpoint
