Best Care Residential is opening a new trauma informed children's residential centre in early 2026. Our aim is to create a home where young people aged 12 to 17 feel safe, supported and valued. We are guided by our values of Belonging, Excellence, Support and Trust.
We are now recruiting a Person in Charge to lead the setup, registration and day to day running of our first centre, Mill Bridge House. This is a full time and permanent position.
About the Role
The Person in Charge will hold responsibility, authority and accountability for delivering a high quality residential service in line with the Child Care Regulations 1996, National Standards for Children's Residential Centres 2018 and Children First.
This is a rare opportunity to join at the beginning and help build a values led service from the ground up. You will work closely with our Non Executive Director and governance team and will be central to the culture, systems and practice within the home.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead the Tusla registration process for the centre
* Supervise, mentor and support the staff team
* Promote trauma informed and relationship based practice
* Oversee care planning, risk assessments and safety planning
* Ensure compliance with all standards, legislation and policies
* Prepare for inspections and lead quality improvements
* Manage rosters, training and team meetings
* Build strong relationships with families, social workers and schools
* Contribute to a safe, child centred and nurturing environment
* Participate in on call management as required
Qualifications and Experience Required
Level 7 or Level 8 in Social Care, Social Work, Psychology, Youth and Community or a related field
At least four years experience in children's residential care
A management or leadership qualification
Experience supervising or leading staff teams
Strong safeguarding and compliance knowledge
Excellent communication and documentation skills
Full driving licence and access to a vehicle
Salary and Benefits
* Salary of 60,000 to 68,000 depending on experience
* Signing bonus of 3,000 after probation
* Strong governance support including NED involvement
