We are currently hiring for 8 positions. The Packaging Operator has the primary responsibility for operating the case packer and bagger to ensure that packs are correctly sealed (Bagger) and properly packaged into the outer cartons, maintaining the uninterrupted operation of the line.

Key Duties
* Carry out all duties in accordance with health and safety regulations, Safe System of Work (SSOWs) and /product specifications
* Operate all equipment in a safe and efficient manner following prescribed work methods.
* Maintain the facility's equipment, work area and materials in a neat, clean, and orderly fashion.
* Daily inspection and minor maintenance on the Case Packers and baggers.
* Maintain a clean, neat, and orderly work area. (6S process)
Primary And Secondary Responsibilities:
* Confirm production plan per line for packaging at the start of the shift and confirm Raw Materials on the line.
* Test line in advance of production to ensure readiness for operation
* Ensure the efficient operation of the machine setup, operation, control and inspection
* Organise raw materials for the Case Packers and Bagger to accommodate the production plan.
* Ensure correct programs are selected to identify between different formats / SKUs.
* Set up equipment/changeovers as per standard settings and report any deviations.
* Logging of standard settings, daily checks and advising the Line leader when out of specification
* Ensure completion of relevant paperwork for monitoring line performance
* Document raw material information on process control sheets as per the specification
* Utilise monitoring equipment and log detailed downtime reasons to achieve the required OEE (Traksys)
* Escalate to short term interval board (PIT)relevant information, such as downtime, process losses & areas of improvement from the area of responsibility
* Clean and lubricate equipment as per Autonomous Maintenance SOPs
* Carry out effective hand-overs between key team operators using PIT boards, handover books and & process documentation
* Proactively inspect equipment for cleanliness & defects & carry out autonomous maintenance, cleaning and lubrication (DFF & CIL) - escalate concerns immediately.
* Follow the SMED plan & line clearance for all necessary changeovers
* Actively participate in problem identification/solving
* Check raw material codes in advance of production to ensure readiness for use
* Request and manage stock levels of required raw materials (Boxes and Bags)
* Inspect raw material for quality issues & document all usages on process sheets
* Daily counting of raw materials at the machine – opening and closing stock.
* Identify sources of material or finished goods losses
* Dispose of all waste material as per the EMS procedure
* Reporting of waste generated, minimising waste and carrying out corrective actions to improve
* Ensuring 6s is maintained within the pallet wrapping area
* Escalate to PEMAC all necessary job requests. (DFF Book & Line Lead)
* Actively communicate with all relevant teams
* Perform other duties that might be expected from time to time.
Experience / Skills:
Applicants should be able to demonstrate the following experience and skills:
* A minimum of 12 months of experience in a similar operator role within a similar manufacturing environment (Meypack machines are an advantage)
* Completed training in this position and signed off as back up operator
* Good Mechanical/logical reasoning for basic problem solving
* Operation of the Traksys downtime logging system
* Excellent attention to detail & observational skills to identify defective products/processes
* Good communication and interpersonal skills with good written and spoken English language skills
* The ability to work in an organised and structured way to meet production targets
* Good teamwork skills and the ability to work on your own
* Willingness to work flexibly to suit production needs & to attend training
