A position has come available within our team for a person who is interested in developing their career in retail in a fast-moving customer focused environment.
We are currently recruiting for the following position in our Garden Centre.
Garden Centre Sales Assistant
The Garden Centre Sales Assistant will be part of our Garden Centre Team, helping with sales and maintain the high level of customer service and advice for our Garden Centre Customers.
Key Job Responsibilities:
* To provide a professional, friendly, and efficient service to the Garden Centre's customers, understanding their needs and requirements, working to exceed these wherever possible.
* To assist in proactively driving sales and service across the store through a strong sales team with excellent product knowledge and customer service.
* Maintaining a high standard of display and merchandising throughout the garden centre.
* Keep up to date with current product knowledge and consumer trends.
* Plant health and care, including watering, pruning, pest control, and disease prevention.
* Ensure all relevant POS, plant labelling and displays are correct and up to date.
* Assist management by overseeing goods inward, stock control and stock taking, ensuring they are carried out in line with company policies.
* Performing other duties as assigned by the Supervisor/Manager.
* Adhering to all health and safety regulations and guidelines within the business.
The Ideal Candidate:
* Will be able to demonstrate a love of gardening and a good general knowledge of gardening and plants.
* Will be a people person, be extremely customer focused and results driven.
* Must be able to build and maintain customer relationships, delivering an excellent customer experience.
* Strong attention to detail, excellent organisational skills, and ability to multitask effectively.
* Will be self-motivated yet be a team player.
* Be flexible and adaptable to a changing retail environment.
* Be able to confidently communicate with the customers.
* Have a positive a conscientious, flexible and 'can do' working style.
Experience and Qualifications:
* Experience in horticultural retail, or general retail is not essential, but candidates with suitable experience will be at an advantage.
* A horticultural qualification is not essential, a love of gardening and plants is. A successful candidate will be able to demonstrate that they have an adequate level of gardening knowledge.
* A successful candidate will be one who is willing to continue learning and expand their knowledge of horticulture to assist in proactively driving sales and providing excellent product knowledge and service to our customers.
* Proficient with computers. Some experience with any sales software a plus, however not a necessity

Hours of Work:
This is a full-time position and will require the successful candidate to work any 5 out of 7 days to include weekends and bank holidays.
