Clinical Nurse Manager 2 – Haematology/Oncology – Dublin
On behalf of our client, St. James’s Hospital in Dublin 8, we are accepting applications for a Senior Nursing role within Ireland’s National Adult Bone Marrow Transplant Centre, specifically in Stem Cell Transplantation.
This is a Senior specialist nurse who will be responsible for delivering advanced patient centred care throughout the Haematopoietic Stem Cell Transplantation (HSCT) pathway. The role integrates clinical leadership, case management, advocacy, education, and contribution to national standards and EU regulatory requirements.

St James’s Hospital, based in Dublin’s south inner city, is Ireland’s largest acute academic teaching hospital and, by international standards, a substantial acute hospital service provider. It is an evolving healthcare campus offering a hub of services designed to meet patients’ needs, with several national centres and institutions, including Trinity College Dublin’s Health Sciences Building which incorporates schools of medicine, nursing, radiotherapy, etc, whilst St Luke’s Radiation Oncology Network and the Wellcome Trust/HRB Clinical Research Facility are also situated on the site.
St James’s is one of eight adult designated national cancer centres in the country, and the largest in terms of activity encompassing a number of national cancer care services. It is this unique position that has enhanced their collaborative commitment with Trinity College Dublin to develop and evolve a comprehensive Cancer Institute dedicated to improving the care and outcomes of patients with cancer and resulted in the facility formally receiving its accreditation from the Organisation of European Cancer Institutes (OECI) in 2019. Their Stem Cell Transplantation (SCT) service was founded in 1984, has performed 2,500+ stem cell and bone marrow transplants, and oversees transplants in approximately 160 patients annually. The service is currently the third largest SCT unit in the UK and Ireland, is JACIE accredited and affiliated to the European Blood and Marrow Transplantation (EBMT) Registry, reporting all outcomes to the registry, and takes part in EBMT research projects.
Responsibilities
Providing specialist nursing care for Haematopoietic Stem Cell Transplantation patients and donors
Conducting comprehensive clinical assessments and creating tailored care plans
Coordinating investigations, treatments, following up and multidisciplinary team communication
Leading symptom management, patient education and nurse led counselling
Maintaining data, KPIs and participating in audits, JACIE standards and HPRA compliance
Educating patients, donors and families
Mentoring nursing staff and support multidisciplinary team learning
Engaging in evidence-based practice and national education programmes
Minimum requirements
General Nursing qualification
5 years post registration acute nursing experience, with at least 3 of same in Haematology, Apheresis or Bone Marrow Transplant Nursing
Level 8 qualification (or equivalent) in Haematology/Oncology
Holding full registration with the Nursing & Midwifery Board of Ireland, or eligibility to register
High level of English
An interest in Stem Cell Transplantation
