Abacus is EXCLUSIVELY recruiting a highly skilled Compliance (In House) Counsel to join the global legal team and provide strategic and practical support for operations across EMEA and APAC regions.This is a high-impact legal role offering exposure to global compliance matters in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment. This is a critical position for the global legal team and for the right person, it can evolve to a global leadership role as a Subject Matter Expert (SME), offering ethics and compliance expertise to business leaders, functional teams and other stakeholders. FOCUS: As Compliance Counsel, you will: Provide strategic legal and compliance advice to business operations and units across EMEA & APAC on topics including anti-corruption, antitrust, financial crimes, conflicts of interest and other relevant regulations. This may involve vetting some transactional deals/sales pipeline, assess new suppliers or 3rd parties flag and mitigate risk concerns, apply approve/stop actions. Serve as a trusted advisor to management and employees, providing guidance on ethical decision-making and compliance obligations. Tailor and implement compliance initiatives to all stakeholders. You may occasionally be involved in regional and global legal projects e.g. corporate and commercial aspects, global policy design and development. Occasionally, conduct internal investigations into alleged policy or legal violations, recommend corrective actions, and ensure compliance with best practices. Design and deliver engaging training programs tailored to regional needs. Lead regional compliance risk assessments (and risk heatmap), drive mitigation strategies (pre-empt red flags) and update on regional developments related to compliance risk areas e.g. reputational risk. Develop and implement region-specific compliance policies, ensuring alignment with global standards and local regulations. Collaborate with cross-functional teams and support global ethics and compliance initiatives and projects. REQUIREMENTS: The role requires: At least 5+ years PQE gained either in-house or private practice. Strong working knowledge of relevant laws and regulations, including anti-corruption, conflicts of interest, antitrust and financial crime regulations. Proven experience conducting internal investigations. Various personal qualities and skills including ability to deal with senior level stakeholders with authority, relationship management, think objectively and with a balanced business mindset. Its an advantage if you offer: Prior in-house ethics and compliance experience including bribery and corruption. Familiarity with data privacy laws. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including presentations. A strategic thinker, with the ability to drive vision and purpose, manage ambiguity and influence stakeholders.
