The Purpose of the Role To provide a professional catering service within the temporary Coffee Trucks on the Trinity College campus and support the College in providing a hospitable experience for its students, staff and visitors. Context On campus, students and staff have a wide choice of restaurants and coffee shops to suit all tastes and budgets. These include The Buttery Food Court, Aras an Phiarsaigh Coffee Dock ,The Perch Café, Dining Hall, and the I592 Restaurant and the Forum Restaurant at the Trinity Business School .In addition this Summer we will be operating two Coffee Trucks from late May to early September in two busy locations based on Front Square and New Square. The operation will require a full time Head Barista and in addition there will be a full time senior Baristas based in each truck to supervise and work alongside the junior staff. Main Responsibilities This is a list of the tasks, duties and responsibilities for the role. The Senior Barista will; Attend for the rostered hours agreed and can be asked to work flexible rosters depending on the business to be catered for. Start and finish work at the correct time. Must follow agreed sickness reporting procedures and all staff policies and procedures. Wear correct uniforms on duty and wear hats and hairnets when serving food on counters. No Jewellery other than a wedding ring. Wash hands after using toilets and after any working tasks Duties: Working closely with the Head Barista, assume operational responsibility for the service within each coffee truck including product display, coffee quality, service efficiency and management of payments ( cash and credit card ) Prepare and serve a range of great coffee drinks along with matcha, chai, iced drinks, teas etc Be the ideal example to peers and proactively train our newly hired baristas Monitor stock levels for all items and ensure orders are managed in a timely manner Refill water tanks as needed throughout the day Ensure that counters are set up and displayed in an attractive manner Ensure that Foods are correctly rotated Portion and quality control, consistency in all areas of service Required to take temperatures of food and fridges and follow cleaning program for the area Follow the HACCP procedures strictly Be able to operate POS systems. Handle cash with care and balance cash at the end of the business day ensuring cash is lodged securely at the end of day and till reports completed Be able to open and close units Deliver customer service in a friendly and approachable manner To maintain the highest standard of hygiene and service Service Receive and respond to everyday enquiries from/to customers escalating requests outside their knowledge base to the appropriate person/area. Systems Operate the EPOS cash system as per guidelines and training Clerical Complete all Haccp, Cleaning and Safety records as directed by catering management Knowledge Awareness of the basic principles of Haccp and food allergens The ability to maintain coffee quality control throughout busy periods with a high volume of sales Lead the team, assign tasks and support team dynamics Excellent communication and customer service skills Excellent multi-tasking and problem solving skills Experience Prior work experience in the catering industry including cash handling and food service Experience in dealing with customer queries Skills Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to provide efficient, friendly and courteous customer service Personal attributes Understands the importance of quality service and pro-actively delivers this. Pays close attention to quality standards. Takes pride in providing excellent customer service providing a helpful and courteous approach to colleagues, students, academic staff and customers. Flexible approach to working hours as the demands of the post may require work outside normal office working hours from time to time.
