Responsibilities:
* Provide engineering support for the introduction of new products and processes into manufacturing, under broad supervision from the Senior Manufacturing Engineer.
* Generate and maintain product and process documentation such as drawings, specifications, BOMs, validations, process flows, work instructions, and risk assessments.
* Evaluate new equipment, processes, chemicals, and materials for environmental impact in conjunction with EHS, aiming to eliminate or reduce such impacts.
* Participate in planning the scaling of new products from initial builds to volume production.
* Take a hands-on approach to managing first-run builds for new products.
* Diagnose and resolve manufacturing issues as part of a team, using structured problem-solving and documenting issues through the quality system.
* Develop operating programs for equipment and become the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for specific processes and equipment.
* Implement lean manufacturing principles.
* Drive improvements in process design, layout, operational performance, and defect reduction.
* Optimize production flow to ensure quality at source, quick feedback from inspections, and clear standard work and inspection standards.
* Design jigs and fixtures to meet manufacturing needs and facilitate machine changeover.
* Meet or exceed milestones and goals set by the company.
* Adhere to plant safety and health & safety requirements, taking responsibility for aspects within your control.
* Be aware of environmental impacts related to your work and ensure compliance.
* Contribute to energy conservation efforts.
* Participate in continuous improvement activities related to OH&S, environmental, and energy management systems, and report incidents promptly.
* Keep skills current and stay informed about relevant technological developments.
* Perform other duties as assigned by management, with prior agreement.
Qualifications:
A Degree in Engineering is essential, preferably with a final year project or industrial placement in the Medical Device Industry.
* 1–2 years of industry experience.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
* Practical, constructive, and analytical problem-solving approach.
* Ability to manage multiple tasks with a positive attitude.
* Knowledge of ergonomics, Lean Manufacturing, and Six Sigma methodologies is advantageous.
