Our sense of mission and purpose is to serve and engage with our community, supporting sports, community, and social groups.Serving on the board of Donore Credit Union offers a unique opportunity to:Gain Leadership ExperienceStrengthen your CV and develop valuable business management skills at a director level — experience that benefits professionals at any stage of their career.Grow Your NetworkConnect with others in the community and the wider credit union movement, building lasting personal and professional relationships.Attend National EventsRepresent Donore Credit Union at industry events across Ireland - with travel and participation costs fully covered.Support Your CommunityMost importantly, play a meaningful role in shaping the future of Donore Credit Union and making a real impact in the lives of local people.Donore Credit Union can also support your personal and professional development with paid training to gain recognised qualifications.As a Director of Donore Credit Union, your responsibilities will include the following:Providing input to the strategic direction of the Credit Union and contributing with insight, oversight, and experience at board meetingsPolicy development and implementation as requiredEssential/Desired Skills/Qualities required for these roles:An appreciation and knowledge of the Credit Union sectorAn understanding of and commitment to our mission and valuesCommitment to the highest levels of corporate governanceKnowledge of IT Systems and security would be a useful skillset to add to the board.Time commitment:The Board meets ten times a year, approximately two hours on a weeknight. We encourage in-person meetings but we also provide remote joining.The Board also holds up to two strategic planning sessions per year, usually a full day on a Saturday.Board members are also required to take a role on at least one subcommittee. There are different levels of commitment depending on the committee, some meet monthly, some less frequently.Board members are required to do mandatory yearly training in Ethics, GDPR and Money Laundering.Board members also support the Credit Union in its various community activities.All Credit Unions are required to hold AGMs, where the directors are elected. In this instance, a new director is co-opted to the board and then put forward for election for a three-year term at the next AGM.
