Role of Hull Artificer (Carpenter):
* Manage, maintain, and crew the ship, ensuring operational readiness.
* Receive training to perform duties onboard Irish Naval Service vessels.
* Maintain the vessel's hull, fittings, and systems to ensure seaworthiness and structural integrity.
* Participate in emergency response, firefighting, and damage control exercises.
Applicant Requirements:
General Requirements:
* Irish citizen or legal entitlement to reside and work in Ireland.
* Good character and security clearance.
* Meet medical and physical fitness standards.
Age:
Applicants must be between 18 and 39 years old at the time of application.
Professional Qualifications:
Candidates must have completed one of the following:
* HETAC Level 7 Bachelors in Craft Technology (wood) with business.
* National Craft Certificate in Carpentry and Joinery.
* National Craft Certificate in Cabinet Making/Wood Manufacturing and Finishing.
* National Craft Certificate in Shipwright.
* Equivalent qualification.
Recruitment Process:
Applicants will undergo a fitness test, competency-based interview, medical assessment, and Garda Vetting.
Pay and Allowances:
Basic salary starts at €57,000 with annual increments. Additional allowances of approximately €20,000 per year are provided, including a tax-free overseas service allowance starting at €15,000 annually.
