Role Overview
The Automation Technician will play a hands-on role within the engineering team, working on a 4-cycle shift system. This individual will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and optimisation of automated equipment, robotics, and control systems to ensure maximum production efficiency, reliability, and compliance.
Key Responsibilities
* Install, maintain, and troubleshoot automated manufacturing equipment, robotics, and control systems.
* Perform fault-finding on electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and PLC-controlled systems.
* Carry out preventative and corrective maintenance to minimise downtime and improve reliability.
* Support commissioning and integration of new automation systems, including programming adjustments and configuration.
* Collaborate with engineering and production teams during new product introductions and process improvements.
* Partner with equipment suppliers and contractors during installation, testing, and validation activities.
* Document all maintenance activities in line with company procedures and regulatory requirements.
* Ensure compliance of all automation systems with safety, quality, and environmental standards (ISO 13485, ISO
* Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives to enhance equipment performance and operational efficiency.
Requirements
* Minimum Level 6 qualification in Electrical, Mechatronics, Automation, or a related engineering discipline.
* 2+ years' experience with automation systems in a manufacturing environment (medical devices or injection moulding preferred).
* Strong knowledge of PLCs (Allen Bradley, Siemens, or similar), robotics, sensors, and vision systems.
* Ability to read and interpret electrical and mechanical schematics.
* Proven experience in preventative maintenance and troubleshooting of complex automated equipment.
* Knowledge of pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office and experience with CMMS systems.
* Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently and within cross-functional teams.
* High attention to detail and strong commitment to safety.
