Purpose of Role
The purpose of a Community Support Worker is to support individuals with physical and intellectual disabilities to integrate into the local community, ensuring they have opportunities to participate in line with their care plans and goals. Activities include nature walks, swimming, cinema, gym, and coffee outings. This role provides a chance to help individuals reach their potential in a meaningful and safe environment.

Job Type & Working Hours
Weekend contract (minimum 10 hours, additional hours available).
Day‑time shifts between 8 am and 8 pm on Saturdays and Sundays.
Work hours are flexible and can be agreed upon during the offer stage.
Salary & Benefits
Support workers: €15–€18.62 per hour.
Social care workers: €16–€20.90 per hour.

Essential Criteria
Permission to work in Ireland.
Full clean driver's licence (B category).
For support worker: Minimum of a QQI Level 5 major award (8 components/modules) in Health or Social Care or equivalent, or commitment to complete the award with at least 2 components/modules already completed.
For social care worker: Minimum of a B.A. in Social Care, QQI Level 7 plus registration as a Social Care Worker with CORU by Nov 2025, or a sufficiently relevant qualification in Social Care or related field with registration by Nov 2025.
One year of experience in a healthcare or social care setting (advantage).
Experience/knowledge of report writing and client support plans (advantage).
Candidate Skills & Experience
Ability to support the client group in a respectful manner, prioritising client goals and needs.
Understanding of how to prevent and manage challenging behaviour.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Comfortable using essential information technology and preparing reports.
Main Duties / Responsibilities
Support service users with intellectual/physical disabilities and autism.
Practice safe driving habits; maintain company vehicles in good working order, hygiene and presentation.
Alert support team when vehicle items or services are needed.
Help service users understand their environment, learn new skills and maximise independence.
Assist individuals with daily living activities.
Support individuals to live a meaningful life, focusing on equal citizenship.
Facilitate participation and integration into the community.
Advocate for clients/residents.
Promote participation in formulation and execution of care/placement plans.
Accompany service users to appointments and events as required.
Assist service users with reduced mobility.
Undertake duties assigned by manager/team leader to support care of users.
Manage challenging behaviours using positive behaviour support plans.
Provide reports on client activities to management.
Attend staff meetings and contribute constructively to care plan implementation.

Will report to Disability Coordinator.
Probation
6 months.
