This is a highly sales-focused position. The Business Development Manager will target and build new business opportunities, foster strong client relationships, engage with the community in Midleton & East Cork, and increase revenue in food & beverage, meetings, events, and weddings.
The Business Development Manager will report to the General Manager and the Group Commercial Manager, working closely with the Sales & Marketing Manager to focus on rooms revenue, growth, and digital marketing.
Main Duties:
1. Support the General Manager and Group Commercial Manager in achieving sales targets;
2. Build lasting client relationships in Midleton and East Cork, ensuring Talbot Hotel Midleton is the preferred choice for dining and events;
3. Identify and convert new business opportunities through proactive outreach;
4. Maintain and grow existing client accounts to maximize revenue;
5. Conduct face-to-face sales calls with local businesses, corporates, and community members;
6. Present tailored proposals to potential clients using effective presentation skills;
7. Undertake telesales to secure revenue growth;
8. Monitor competition and industry trends locally and regionally;
9. Manage a portfolio of key accounts for long-term success;
10. Collaborate with sales, marketing, and operations teams to ensure strategic alignment;
11. Represent the hotel at industry and community events;
12. Produce weekly sales activity reports.
The successful candidate will:
1. Hold relevant sales qualifications;
2. Have at least 3 years' experience in sales management;
3. Have at least 2 years' experience in F&B and C&B sales within hospitality;
4. Be results-driven and client-focused;
5. Be self-motivated, innovative, and initiative-taking;
6. Possess excellent presentation, interpersonal skills, and attention to detail; thrive in front-facing roles and networking;
7. Be a natural relationship builder;
8. Have a full driving license and own transport.
