Contract: 18-Month Fixed Term Contract

Salary: €53,071 per annum (fixed, non-negotiable)
This is a rare opportunity to play a hands‑on role in Ireland’s transition to a low‑carbon future.
You will join a specialist national team working at the forefront of energy innovation, climate action, and heat decarbonisation, helping to shape the policies, frameworks, and evidence base that will influence how Ireland heats homes, communities, and industry in the years ahead.
This is not a routine analytical role - your work will directly inform national strategy, support major energy decisions, and contribute to Ireland’s climate targets.
You will be actively shaping how Ireland approaches sustainable heating and renewable energy systems.
Key Duties

Leading research and analysis on cutting‑edge renewable heat technologies including heat pumps, district heating, and bioenergy solutions
Translating complex energy data into clear insights that influence national policy and planning decisions
Supporting the development of Local Heating & Cooling Plans that will guide future energy infrastructure
Contributing to national‑level heating and energy assessments and evidence frameworks
Producing high‑impact technical reports, recommendations, and policy insights
Working closely with government, industry experts, researchers, and local authorities to drive collaboration
Coordinating external consultants and supporting the delivery of key projects and programmes
Presenting findings confidently to both technical and non‑technical audiences, helping turn analysis into action

Essential Requirements

Degree (Level 8 or higher) in Environmental Science, Engineering, Energy Systems, or related STEM discipline
Minimum 3 years’ experience in energy, sustainability, climate, environmental, or related technical field (Master’s may count as 1 year)
Strong analytical ability with experience interpreting data and producing evidence‑based insights
Experience coordinating projects or contributing to multi‑stakeholder delivery environments
Proven ability to write clear, structured technical reports and communicate complex information effectively
Strong understanding of renewable energy systems, energy efficiency, or decarbonisation principles

Desirable Experience

Experience in renewable heat, district heating, heat pumps, or bioenergy systems
Familiarity with EU and Irish climate/energy policy frameworks and legislation
Experience with data analysis tools, modelling, GIS, or techno‑economic assessments
Background in policy development, research, or strategic energy planning
Experience engaging with public sector, government, or industry stakeholders
Project management qualification or structured delivery experience
Knowledge of emerging energy transition technologies and climate innovation
Proficiency in Irish language (an advantage, not essential)

If you’re motivated by meaningful work, technical challenge, and being part of Ireland’s energy future, this is a role where your contribution genuinely matters.
Send your CV to Philly Lambe at Lex Consultancy.
