Overview of the role
The Regional Operations Manager will oversee the performance and development of a group of community pharmacies within a designated region. Reporting directly to the Head of Retail Sales, this role is pivotal in driving business growth, enhancing customer service, and ensuring compliance with all legal and operational standards. The Regional Manager will optimise operational efficiency through strategic leadership, coaching, and operational management while fostering a team culture of accountability, engagement, and excellence.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership and Team Development:
Lead, coach, and mentor pharmacy managers to build high-performing, motivated teams.
Conduct regular performance reviews, setting clear expectations, goals, and action plans to improve pharmacy-level leadership and outcomes.
Identify training needs and implement tailored development plans to support team growth.
Build a strong talent pipeline through succession planning and leadership development.
Address underperformance effectively and implement performance improvement plans where necessary.
Foster a positive and collaborative team culture that aligns with company values and drives employee engagement.
Inspire teams to meet and exceed sales and operational targets.
Operational and Commercial Excellence:
Ensure customer satisfaction is a top priority, promptly addressing complaints and training needs.
Develop and drive initiatives to maximise sales, including promotions, seasonal opportunities, and service rollouts.
Monitor and enhance profit margins by controlling costs and reducing losses.
Conduct regular pharmacy visits to monitor operational standards, provide feedback, and support improvement initiatives.
Oversee inventory levels and optimise staffing schedules to meet budgetary andoperational needs.
Ensure operational compliance with all company policies and regulatory requirements.
Implement new initiatives successfully and timely, ensuring they are integrated smoothly into existing operations.
Performance and Financial Management:
Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and implement strategies to address underperformance.
Manage budgets, personnel costs, and financial reporting, ensuring adherence to company targets.
Hold pharmacy managers accountable for delivering results and addressing gaps in performance swiftly and effectively.
Support pharmacy managers in managing budgets, controlling personnel costs, and reporting financial performance accurately.
Regularly review pharmacy managers' progress against goals and provide constructive feedback to drive continuous improvement.
Lead by example in setting high standards for operational and financial discipline.
Oversee financial management to minimise revenue loss and ensure timely and accurate reporting across all channels.
Communication and Collaboration:
Act as the primary liaison between the support office and pharmacies, ensuring clear communication of goals and updates.
Ensure all business communications are filtered down to all colleagues.
Share and implement regional best practices to drive efficiency and consistency. Compliance and Governance:
Ensure all pharmacies operate within legal, regulatory, and company guidelines.
Address compliance issues identified swiftly to maintain high standards.
Foster a culture of integrity and ethical behaviour across all teams.
People-Centred Leadership:
Build strong relationships with pharmacy managers, providing consistent support, guidance, and feedback to help them succeed.
Encourage open communication and regional collaboration to share best practices and solutions.
Create an inclusive work environment where all employees feel valued and motivated to contribute to the company's success.
Be a visible and approachable leader, ensuring accessibility to pharmacy teams when needed.
