Summary of Team:

We're seeking a Software Engineer to join our Email Platform team within Genesys Cloud. You'll be part of a team responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining our customer experience email communication services. The ideal candidate will help drive innovation in our cloud-based email infrastructure while ensuring high availability, scalability, and security of our email services.

Responsibilities / Job Duties:

Design, develop, and maintain scalable email processing services within our cloud-based microservice architecture

Implement features supporting email routing, delivery, tracking, and analytics

Build and maintain integrations with email service providers and protocols (SMTP, IMAP, POP3)

Ensure email deliverability and handle bounce management

Participate in on-call rotation to maintain service reliability

Contribute to architectural decisions and technical design reviews

Write comprehensive automated tests for new features and existing functionality

3+ years of software engineering experience with Java

Experience with distributed systems and microservice architectures

Proven track record of building fault-tolerant and highly available systems

Proficiency in working with REST APIs

Experience with automated testing (unit, integration, and end-to-end)

Familiarity with cloud infrastructure, preferably AWS

Strong problem-solving abilities and analytical thinking

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Experience working in distributed teams

Self-motivated with ability to work independently

Strong collaboration skills and team-oriented mindset

Desired Skills & Experience:

Understanding of email protocols (SMTP, IMAP, POP3) and email authentication standards (SPF, DKIM, DMARC)

Amazon Simple Email Service (SES)

DynamoDB for message storage and tracking

S3 for email attachment handling

SQS/SNS for asynchronous message processing

Lambda for serverless email processing functions

Experience with email templating systems

Knowledge of email deliverability best practices

Understanding of email security and anti-spam measures

Experience with monitoring and observability tools

Familiarity with compliance requirements (GDPR, CAN-SPAM)

Remote-friendly with distributed team collaboration

Regular participation in code reviews and technical discussions

Commitment to continuous learning and improvement
