Job Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled Environmental Health Specialist to support the site's Environmental, Health, and Safety initiatives.
Main Responsibilities:
* Leadership Role: The selected candidate will lead the day-to-day operations of the EHS department, overseeing all aspects of environmental health and safety.
* Risk Management: Regularly review and update risk assessments, safe operating procedures, work instructions, and the site's safety statement to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
* Incident Analysis: Monitor and analyze incident reports and safety metrics; compile daily performance statistics and present them to the operations team.
* Investigations: Oversee the prompt investigation and documentation of accidents, incidents, and near misses, ensuring timely close-out of findings.
* Corrective Actions: Support managers in developing and implementing corrective actions to address safety concerns.
* Audit Program: Manage the internal audit program, conducting safety inspections, generating reports, and coordinating with department representatives.
* Training and Development: Coordinate safety-related training, ensuring all mandatory and ongoing training needs are met on schedule, and maintain and update the training matrix.
* EHS Communication: Create and deliver EHS communications, including toolbox talks and safety alerts, to reinforce a strong safety culture across the site.
* Emergency Preparedness: Manage site emergency preparedness programs, including fire safety, chemical safety, and workplace vehicle protocols.
* Contractor Safety: Oversee contractor safety management in partnership with the engineering department, delivering contractor training, reviewing documentation, and conducting audits of contractor activities.
