Job Description
The Implementation Director for M100 Advance Works will be responsible for supporting the delivery of the M100 contract packages, which include Land Access & Demolition (M110), Heritage (M120), Archaeology (M130), Utilities Diversions (M140 & M150), Environmental Monitoring (M160), and Utility Protection Works (M170). This role requires a high-caliber professional who will act as a key authority representative for these contracts, ensuring effective coordination, governance, and stakeholder engagement to deliver enabling works that pave the way for the major rail projects main construction phases.Principal AccountabilitiesAct as the Authority's Representative for the M100 Advance Works contracts, ensuring compliance with governance and statutory requirements.Support the M100 Delivery Director in managing all aspects of M100 delivery, including contract administration under NEC4 and GCCC forms, budget oversight, and milestone tracking.Coordinate across multiple packages (M110–M170), liaising with contractors, consultants, and the Project Delivery Partner to ensure integrated delivery.Drive a strong health, safety, and environmental culture, ensuring advance works meet client standards and sustainability objectives.Oversee procurement and mobilisation activities, ensuring readiness for construction commencement.Manage stakeholder engagement, including Utility Asset Owners (UAOs), local authorities, heritage bodies, and archaeological regulators, aligning with the projects stakeholder strategy.Ensure robust processes for risk management, reporting, and assurance, escalating issues and proposing mitigation strategies.Champion continuous improvement and lean delivery techniques to optimise cost and schedule performance.Support development and consistent application of governance structures across all advance works teams.Monitor compliance with environmental monitoring requirements (noise, vibration, air quality, water) and heritage protection protocols.Perform additional duties as required to support programme objectives.
QualificationsMinimum Level 8 degree in engineering, construction, or project management.Level 9 Master's degree advantageous.Chartered membership of a relevant professional body (e.g., IEI, APM, PMI) preferred.Experience>15 years' experience in major infrastructure programme delivery, with at least 5 years in senior management roles.Proven track record in advance works delivery, including site clearance, demolition, utility diversions, archaeology, and heritage works.Experience managing complex multi-package contracts under NEC4 and GCCC.Familiarity with archaeological and heritage compliance frameworks and environmental monitoring requirements.Strong understanding of utility coordination and protection works in urban environments.Experience engaging with multiple stakeholders, including statutory bodies and UAOs.SkillsAbility to lead and manage multidisciplinary teams across diverse work packages.Strong contract management, governance, and reporting skills.Excellent stakeholder engagement and negotiation capabilities.Ability to manage unforeseen risks and implement mitigation strategies.Strong communication and interpersonal skills, fostering collaboration across teams.
