Would you like to become a Support Group Facilitator Volunteer for OCD Ireland?
OCD Ireland, a non-profit organisation, is looking for Volunteer Support Group Facilitatorsto help facilitate our Support Group meetings.
OCD Ireland delivers in-person support group meetings in St. Patrick’s University Hospital in Dublin and also online (‘virtual’) meetings for Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), Body Dysmorphic Disorder (BDD), Trichotillomania (TTM or Trich), as well as a ‘Family and Friends’ group. Groups, both virtual and in-person, run on either a Monday or a Tuesday evening. Further details about OCD Ireland and our Support Groups can be found at www.ocdireland.org.
Duties and Responsibilities of a Support Group Facilitator:
* Initiating the group.
* Initiating mindfulness meditation.
* Executing the check-in stage, lead the middle stage of the group, and execute the check-out stage.
* Attending supervision.
* Provide cover, when needed, if an OCD Ireland Support Group Facilitator is unable to facilitate a group.
* Co-facilitates groups when a Group Facilitator presents.
* Close the group.
* Execute the check-out stage.
* Attend to new group attendees prior to the start of the group if possible.
* Participate in the OCD Ireland facilitator training.
* Attend the free OCD Ireland training as well as OCD Ireland meetings (these will be once or twice per annum).
* Attend ASIST training and/or child protection training.
* Liaise with the OCD Ireland Support Group Coordinator to confirm the monthly public talk series dates in order to share this information with the Support Group attendees when co-facilitating one.
Further Details:
Training:
* All facilitators undergo an initial free OCD Ireland training, and they are provided with further free training twice a year.
* All OCD Ireland facilitators are required to attend a two-day ASIST Training and complete the Programme at HSELAnD ‘An Introduction to Children First’.
Essential for Application:
* Have at least a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Counselling, or Psychotherapy.
* Available either Monday and/or Tuesday evenings from 6:30 PM – 9.30 PM (and for a minimum of 2 evenings per month).
* Availability to facilitate Online Support Groups and Face-to-Face groups at Saint Patrick Hospital.
Desirable for Application:
* Prior experience in group facilitation.
* Prior experience with OCD, Body Dysmorphic Disorder, and Trichotillomania.
* An understanding of Asperger's Disorder, as it often coexists with OCD spectrum disorders.
* Recent attendance at Child Protection Training.
* Prior attendance at ASIST training.

The Support Group Facilitator role is a voluntary, unpaid role. A commitment of up to one year is required. OCD Ireland will consider applicants who are based outside Dublin and are only available to support with our online support group meetings. The interviews will be held via Zoom platform on a date TBC, from 18:00 PM onwards.
