Introduction
The beautiful Indonesian island of Bali provides an ideal setting to gain experience in innovative environmental work and help ensure sustainable development for local farmers.
As a participant on the Environmental Internship programme, you will work with a local NGO and Balinese farming communities to improve environmental practices and standards.
Farmers face challenges related to the Green Revolution and ongoing use of pesticides and non-biodegradable waste; the NGO designs and implements strategies to reduce human impact on the Balinese landscape.
Initiatives include a Permaculture centre and wormery, mobile rice mills and organic rice intensification training, mosquito-trapping projects, biogas plants, and a micro-hydro electric generator with more plans.
This is a flexible placement with daily life dependent on the projects chosen.
Your contribution and new ideas are welcome.
We are in the process of building a permaculture workshop training centre in primary rainforest; the structure will be built with live trees and will grow as they do.
