Post-Primary Languages Ireland (PPLI) are currently hiring for a Post-Primary Education Officer.About The Role:Post-Primary Languages Ireland (PPLI) works to implement the policy of the Department of Education and Youth in Ireland of diversifying, enhancing and expanding the teaching of foreign languages in post-primary schools and has a role in implementing key actions in Languages Connect – Ireland’s Strategy for Foreign Languages in Education 2017-2026 and link to the strategy documents ). Further details about PPLI and its work is available at Post-Primary Languages Ireland and Languages Connect .PPLI wishes to appoint an Education Officer to support the implementation of the above strategy.Key Responsibilities:Assist PPLI in carrying out its brief in relation to foreign languagesSupport the work of PPLI and other stakeholders to which they may be assigned to work collaborativelyPrepare working papers, discussion documents, draft reports and other such documentation in relation to foreign languages mattersEngage with researchers and their workDevelop and support PPLI networks among schools and other relevant agencies and institutions and work effectively with stakeholders, teachers and school leadersAssist in dissemination of information on foreign languages policy and provision at all levels of the education systemAttend and/or address relevant meetings of PPLI with other groups and individuals on behalf of PPLIWork effectively with others both as a team member and a team leaderCarry out further related work at the request of the DirectorKey Requirements:A degree in a foreign language and/or a relevant post-graduate qualification e.g. Applied Linguistics which meets the requirements for registration with the Teaching Council as a teacher of a foreign languageHave in-depth understanding of the Irish education system, the Languages Connect strategy and the teaching and learning of languages at Post-Primary levelHold a qualification to teach at post-primary level 5Have at least 5 years recent relevant experience in post- primary level educationHave experience and expertise in the use CEFR and the CEFR CVHave a proven record of managing complex projects, meeting deadlines, and achieving resultsHave excellent communication and presentation skills and the ability to write to a very high standardBe proficient in Microsoft OfficeDesirable Skills and Qualifications:Advanced IT and digital literacy skillsExperience in designing or adapting teaching and learning resourcesExperience in planning and delivering CPD, workshops, training, or presentations for teachersExperience of supporting or building professional networks, communities of practice, or collaborative partnershipsExperience of engaging with research, surveys, or evaluation to inform practiceKnowledge of plurilingual, intercultural and inclusive approaches to language educationFamiliarity with online language teaching and learning methodologiesProject management, including planning and organisation, the ability to manage multiple strands of work, prioritise effectively, and meet deadlinesJudgement, analysis and decision-makingDelivery of results, including the ability to work flexibly, use initiative, and respond effectively to evolving prioritiesLeadership, including strong interpersonal skills and the ability to motivate, support and influence others within the team and with external stakeholdersResearch, drafting and report-writingCommunication and stakeholder engagement, including the capacity to build effective working relationships with schools, teachers, school leaders, agencies and partnersProfessional knowledge and expertise in language education, including current pedagogical approaches and curriculum-related developmentsThe capacity to prepare and deliver workshops, training, presentations and other professional learning supportsDigital competence, including the ability to support digital content, online communication and resource disseminationThe ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a teamDeadline for applications is 4pm on Friday, 10th July 2026.Post-Primary Languages Ireland (PPLI) provides expertise and support for foreign language education in Ireland, fully funded by the Department of Education.
