Location: New Ross area, Co. Wexford

Contract Type: Permanent, 35 hours per week

About the Role

As an Ability Project Facilitator, you will help young people with intellectual disabilities shape their futures. From discovering strengths and exploring career paths to building life skills and community connections, this role is about empowerment, advocacy, and making real opportunities possible.

Role Requirements

* Degree in Social Care, Social Studies, Training and Development, Nursing, Youth and Community Studies, Community Development, Psychology, or other relevant qualification at degree level
* A minimum of 3 years' work experience working with individuals with intellectual disability with experience working with individuals with complex needs a distinct advantage.
* Previous working experience in a career development/job coach role
* Experience in delivering training or assessing training and development needs
* Excellent IT and report writing skills.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
* Knowledge of relevant legislation and policies related to individuals with disabilities
* Ability to work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team.
* Must hold a full clean driving licence valid in Ireland and be willing to drive company vehicle
* Proficient in both oral and written English language
* Have the legal right to work in Ireland and currently hold valid work authorisation for Ireland

Main Duties and Responsibilities

The Ability project Facilitator will have the following duties:

* Collaborate with participants, their families, and relevant stakeholders to create a personalised person-centred transition plan based on unique needs and aspirations of each young person.
* Conduct assessments to identify vocational interests, skills, and potential career paths.
* Provide guidance and resources to help participants explore various career options and make informed decisions about their future and supporting them with paperwork if required
* Facilitate communication between educators, employers, service providers parents and other professionals involved in participant's journey
* Identifying and delivering programmes to enhance essential life skills such as communication, decision-making, time management, and self – advocacy.
* Develop and implement strategies to prepare participants for the workforce, including job readiness training and supported employment initiatives
* Foster community connections and relationships to promote social inclusion
* Development of a network of potential employers in locality, work with employers to identify opportunities for participants, together with regular engagement and support to employers who employ participants
* Provides outreach services as necessary to individuals with no support networks to reconnect to the services. Uses a variety of methods to provide outreach.
* Provide emotional support to young people facing challenges and guide them in developing coping strategies, collaborate with professionals when necessary.
* Advocate for the rights and inclusion of young people with intellectual disabilities in various settings, including educational institutions and the community.
* Ensure safe and effective environments for individuals and their plans, conduct risk assessments, reporting and monitoring risks ensuring the appropriate control measures are in place
* Provides timely and responsive interventions to address disengagement
* Work collaboratively with others who support the individual to ensure all stakeholders contribute to, are co-ordinated and aligned to the career goals of the individual, ensuring team members are aware of the supports required and scheduled for each day
* Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of individual progress, goals, and any significant developments.
* Record and report in line with service requirements, tracking caseload targeted actions and requirements including preparation of reviews and reports and evaluations
* Contribute to the development of reports for relevant stakeholders as required

Other Duties and Responsibilities

* Contribute to the development of strategies for the implementation of standards and organisational strategies to meet the identified and emerging needs of the Individuals.
* To be responsible for maintaining up to date information on relevant databases and the monitoring and auditing of same. Attend and participate fully in regular staff meetings where all aspects of the service area are discussed with a view to maintaining high standards.
* Attend mandatory and specific skills training courses as scheduled.
* Manage the resources available to the service in a planned and efficient manner.
* Provide cover as required.
* perform such other duties as may be assigned from time to time by the Project Lead

Positions are based in New Ross area, Co. Wexford.

A six-month probationary period will apply. Garda Clearance and reference checks will be required for all prospective employees.
