📍 Location: Dublin (Hybrid – 3 days onsite)
⏳ Duration: 6 months (with 2 more potential extensions)
💼 Engagement: Full-time, Monday to Friday (7.5 hours/day between 08:00–17:30)
About the Role
Harvey Nash Ireland is seeking a Microsoft Security Engineer for one of our key clients in Dublin.
This role offers an exciting opportunity to work on enterprise-level security operations, leveraging the Microsoft Defender Suite, Microsoft Sentinel, and the wider Microsoft 365 security ecosystem.
You’ll work closely with internal IT and security teams to ensure strong threat detection, proactive incident response, and continuous improvement of the organisation’s cybersecurity posture.
While this is a standard full‑time engagement, occasional support outside normal hours may be required, with additional compensation provided as per contract terms.
Key Responsibilities
* Configure, manage, and optimise the Microsoft Defender Suite (Defender for Endpoint, Office 365, Cloud Apps, Identity, and Mobile Threat Defence).
* Maintain and enhance security operations across Microsoft Intune, Endpoint Manager, Azure Active Directory, and the Microsoft 365 Defender portal.
* Use Microsoft Sentinel (SIEM) for advanced monitoring, analytics, and incident response.
* Conduct threat detection, investigation, and response using industry frameworks such as MITRE ATT&CK.
* Perform threat hunting, security baselining, and compliance monitoring.
* Develop and maintain PowerShell scripts and use APIs to automate security and reporting processes.
* Collaborate with internal teams to identify vulnerabilities, define standards, and enhance automation for proactive security management.
Required Experience & Skills
To be considered for this role, candidates must have at least 5 years of relevant experience, including:
* Deep technical expertise across the Microsoft Defender Suite and Microsoft Security Ecosystem.
* Experience with incident detection, threat analytics, and compliance monitoring.
* Strong understanding of SIEM operations, particularly Microsoft Sentinel.
* Practical knowledge of scripting and automation (PowerShell, APIs).
* Proven ability to manage complex enterprise security environments and drive improvements.
Mandatory Qualifications
* Active Microsoft Security Certifications (one or more of the following): AZ-500, SC-100, SC-200, SC-300, SC-401 (or equivalent).
* Degree or higher in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline.
Evidence of certification or qualification may be requested prior to contract award.
