The Role:

Irish Manufacturing Research (IMR) is seeking a Business Development Lead at Senior Technologist level on a 23‑month contract. The Business Development Lead will have responsibility for designing and implementing the go‑to‑market plan in a thematic area for IMR. You will be responsible for managing a dynamic, fun, fast‑paced team that will support you through the market research, value proposition, pricing strategy and research dissemination the organization is committed to. The successful candidate will demonstrate an ability to execute and ensure all activities are coordinated efficiently and to a consistent high standard.
Experience in Business Development and client‑facing activities is essential, both in terms of developing a clear market‑focused strategy and aligned to the areas of research. Developing a good working relationship across each research area will be key to the success of this role. Previous hands‑on experience in business development is critical.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop a go‑to‑market strategy for the business area with a key focus on identifying market opportunities, establishing relationships and converting prospects with the appropriate margin.
Work with key stakeholders to build a product/service portfolio that meets the market needs and voice of the customer.
Develop metrics to monitor and control lead pipeline and prospects.
Develop market segmentation and identify key market trends with business opportunities based on a target market and their business needs.
Evaluate market competition, regulation and identify opportunities to differentiate the potential product/service offering.
Create a compelling value proposition that differentiates the product/service offering and aligns to customer needs.
Monitor channel performance and identify product offering (bundles) or potential demand.
Develop a suitable pricing strategy for the product/service to meet business requirements.
Analyse market pricing and identify value add opportunities.
Develop customer relationships and establish IMR as a partner of choice.
Monitor customer feedback and develop clear actions to resolve any issues.
Identify potential cross‑functional opportunities and leverage events to promote services.
Monitor accounts receivable and potential past‑due payments.
Build close relationships with all areas of IMR to understand new areas of research or new business opportunities.
Demonstrate excellent briefing and response skills.
Required Skills and Experience:
Degree in Business (MBA) or Management.
Minimum 5 years of experience in a business leadership role, customer facing and business development management.
Candidates should have experience in at least one of the following market sectors: pharmaceutical, medical device, food & beverage, electronics, precision engineering, textile, and furniture.
Experience in implementing and using ERP and CRM tools.
Gets things done, executing efficiently with an eye for detail and continuous improvement.
Process driven with a commitment to setting best practices.
Demonstrate a customer‑centric commercial mindset.
Team‑player with demonstrated ability to lead and manage direct reports.
Demonstrated agility and the ability to handle different projects.
Good communicator with influencing and motivational skills.
Access to own transport and legal ability to drive unaccompanied in Ireland.
Location:
IMR offices are located in Rathcoole, Co Dublin and Mullingar, Co Westmeath. This position is based in either our Rathcoole or Mullingar office. We offer a hybrid working model. Travel between offices and client sites will be required from time to time.
Salary & Benefits:
This position will command a package consisting of basic salary (€86,014 ‑ €94,118 depending on qualifications and experience), employer pension contribution and 5 weeks holidays.
