Job Description
The Bariatric Nurse Specialist serves as the central point of contact for patients attending Beacon Obesity Services for bariatric procedures. This role involves delivering specialist nursing care, education, and emotional support throughout the pre- and post-operative journey.
Key responsibilities include preparing patients for surgery through assessments and education programmes, providing post-operative care, managing patient queries, coordinating multidisciplinary team scheduling, communicating with internal/external teams, hosting pre-admission & discharge education sessions.
* Providing wound management, complication screening, and ongoing follow-up.
* Mentoring ward/staff nurses in bariatric protocols, manual handling, & other areas as required.
NB There may be opportunities to teach or mentor students (if requested by your employer) which would be unpaid except for course expenses if funded by your organization’s training budget.
