Child Counselling Professional

Counsellors play a vital role in delivering high-quality counselling services to children on a sessional basis.

The primary objective is to provide effective blocks of eight counselling sessions per referral, ensuring the well-being and emotional support of each child.

Key Responsibilities:

* Comply with the Code of Ethics of relevant accrediting bodies, maintaining professional standards at all times.
* Attend regular supervision sessions to ensure best practices and address any challenges encountered during counselling sessions.
* Obtain and verify consent and referral forms from parents or guardians before initiating counselling services.
* Gather initial information through appropriate means and implement interventions as necessary.
* Prepare and distribute summary reports detailing interventions and strategies employed during counselling sessions.
* Maintain professional interactions with clients, colleagues, and stakeholders.
* Implement robust data protection measures to safeguard sensitive information related to clients.
* Participate in quality assurance exercises and contribute to the evaluation process as required.

Required Qualifications and Experience:

1. A recognised qualification at Level 7 (primary degree) or higher in a relevant human science discipline.
2. Plus either one of the following combinations:
3. a. Hold a degree or post-graduate qualification in counselling, psychotherapy, or a related field, recognised by professional bodies such as the Psychological Society of Ireland, Irish Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy, or the Irish Association for Humanistic and Integrative Psychotherapy.
4. b. Full accredited membership with a professional body mentioned in option 'a', accompanied by two years of relevant supervised experience providing counselling to children.
5. c. OR: A professional accredited qualification in child and adolescent counselling, along with full accredited membership with one of the specified professional bodies.
6. d. One year of relevant supervised experience providing counselling to children, in conjunction with full accredited membership with one of the aforementioned professional bodies.
