Job Purpose:
The Engineering Assistant is responsible for supporting the maintenance and upkeep of the hotel, ensuring all equipment, systems, and facilities are in good working order. This role involves performing daily maintenance tasks, assisting with planned preventative maintenance (PPM), and troubleshooting minor issues across plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and general repairs.
Key Responsibilities:
General Maintenance & Repairs:
* Perform daily maintenance tasks, including basic plumbing, electrical work, HVAC maintenance, and painting.
* Troubleshoot and repair hotel equipment, ensuring minimal disruption to operations.
* Perform daily inspections of all hotel equipment and engineering areas to ensure systems are functioning correctly.
* Report any breakdowns or faults that cannot be resolved to the Cluster Maintenance Manager for further action.
Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM):
* Carry out PPM tasks as assigned by the Cluster Maintenance Manager, ensuring they are completed within the agreed timeline.
* Complete daily, weekly, and monthly checklists as required, maintaining accurate records of all work completed.
Inventory & Equipment Management:
* Maintain tools and supplies, ensuring they are stored properly and in good working condition.
* Monitor and maintain par stock levels to meet the immediate maintenance needs of the hotel.
Emergency Support:
* Be available at short notice to attend emergency repairs as requested by the Cluster Maintenance Manager.
Key Skills & Competencies:
* Basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and general maintenance.
* Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
* Ability to follow maintenance schedules and complete assigned tasks efficiently.
* Attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate maintenance records.
* Good communication and teamwork skills to liaise with hotel staff and management.
Experience & Qualifications:
* Previous experience in a maintenance, engineering, or facilities role, preferably in a hotel or hospitality setting.
* Basic training or qualifications in maintenance, plumbing, electrical, or HVAC are an advantage.
* Health & safety awareness, including manual handling and working at heights, is desirable.
