Senior Risk & Compliance Advisor
Overview
We are seeking an experienced Senior Risk & Compliance Advisor to play a key role in strengthening our compliance, risk management, and data protection capabilities across technology-enabled operations. This is a senior advisory role, providing leadership, challenge, and guidance to ensure regulatory expectations are met and risks are effectively managed.
Key Responsibilities
1. Partner with the Compliance & Risk Lead to shape and deliver the function’s strategic objectives.
2. Lead the identification, assessment, and monitoring of risks across operational and technology domains.
3. Review, update, and enhance compliance policies, standards, and procedures in line with evolving regulations.
4. Act as the senior point of coordination between risk, audit, and data protection teams.
5. Lead organisational responses to internal/external audits and regulatory reviews.
6. Influence business and technology projects to embed compliance and risk considerations throughout their lifecycle.
7. Oversee third‑party and supplier compliance reviews, escalating issues where needed.
8. Manage sensitive requests linked to data protection, freedom of information, and disclosure requirements.
9. Work with senior stakeholders to embed governance, risk, and compliance frameworks.
10. Deliver training, awareness campaigns, and knowledge‑sharing sessions to elevate risk culture.
What We’re Looking For
Essential Experience & Skills
1. Extensive experience in compliance, risk, or audit, with progression into senior responsibilities.
2. Ability to influence and challenge senior stakeholders in complex, multi‑party environments.
3. Proven success in designing and embedding compliance/audit frameworks aligned to recognised standards (e.g., ISAE, ISO).
4. Expertise in managing risks in technology‑enabled contexts.
5. In‑depth knowledge of data protection, privacy, and information access regulations.
6. Strong advisory, communication, and decision‑making skills at a senior level.
Desirable Experience
1. Background in regulated industries (e.g., transport, utilities, public services).
2. Experience with compliance and risk management systems.
3. Strong data analysis and problem‑solving skills.
4. Delivery of impactful training and awareness programmes.
5. Involvement in large‑scale assurance reviews and audits.
6. Contribution to technology‑enabled improvements in compliance frameworks.
