At Robinson, we specialise in the production of HGV trailers, cranes, tippers, and bodies.
We are looking for a Senior Mechanical Engineer who is interested and excited to take responsibility for a new upcoming project.
The candidate will have sole responsibility for the engineering requirements on this project. Must have practical experience with machinery and be excited to design.
Key Responsibilities:
* Collaborate with the management team to design and develop the product
* Reverse engineer the project so that bill of materials are in the ERP system and drawings are available for assembly before the project goes live
* Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and legislation, EU & UK markets
* Create and interpret production drawings, including schematics and electrical/hydraulic systems
* Utilize SolidWorks for 3D modelling and design
* Perform FEA analysis and prepare detailed reports
* Generate BOM (Bill of Materials) for production
* Optimize nesting and machine programming for efficient manufacturing
* Sourcing products and setting up part numbers for purchasing department
Skills required
* Strong proficiency in SolidWorks with an excellent command of the software
* Experience with FEA analysis and preparation of comprehensive reports
* Knowledge of electrical and hydraulic systems in machinery design
* Proficient in reading and understanding legislation relevant to the industry
* Familiarity with production drawings and ability to create accurate schematics
* Understanding of nesting and machine programming, with the ability to optimize these processes
* Previous experience managing a new project end to end
* Strong mechanical aptitude and willingness to take a hands-on approach during the build stage
* Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and able to deliver work to high standards
* Flexible with excellent time management skills
* SOLUTION-driven, with a can-do attitude and a focus on continuous improvement
* Understanding of the impact of this position on other departments, including fabrication, assembly, purchasing, and finance
* Strong hands-on experience with machinery, plant, HGV, agricultural & related fields
Experience in a similar or related field (agri/quarry/plant machinery) is preferred. This position involves hands-on work from design through to manufacturing stages.
