Job Specification - Mechanical Engineer (Plant Maintenance & Projects) Reporting Line Reports directly to the Engineering Manager Based at a large industrial manufacturing site Purpose of the Role To support plant maintenance operations and deliver large-scale plant improvement projects To improve plant availability, safety, and operational performance Key Responsibilities Plant Maintenance Work as part of a multi-disciplinary maintenance team Take responsibility for a designated plant process area Ensure effective preventative and predictive maintenance programmes are in place Plan and manage major plant shutdowns and overhauls Manage contractors on specific maintenance jobs and projects Troubleshoot and resolve plant maintenance issues Drive continuous improvement in safety and environmental standards Large-Scale Plant Improvement Projects Scope and evaluate projects that deliver increased business returns Manage projects from construction through to installation Oversee commissioning and handover of new plant and equipment Candidate Profile Essential / Preferred Qualification in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline Knowledge of health and safety requirements in a heavy industrial environment Minimum of 5 years' experience in a similar engineering role Strong technical capability with sound commercial awareness Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills High level of IT proficiency (MS Office, AutoCAD) Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently Proven ability to meet project deadlines Desirable Demonstrated track record of contributing to improved plant performance and business outcomes Additional Information Exceptional candidates who do not meet all criteria may still be considered Remuneration package will be commensurate with experience
