SHORT ROLE DESCRIPTION / PURPOSE OF ROLE:
The Mechanical Design Engineer for ProSys Group will be responsible for the translation of client requirements into production ready mechanical designs for fabrication of Pharmaceutical equipment. The Mechanical Design Engineer will be responsible for producing both 3D and 2D mechanical designs and providing technical leadership to the production/fabrication team throughout the lifecycle of a project.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
•Support of sales team in creation of sales drawings
•Review and understand of Client User Requirement documentation
•Designing and drafting equipment mechanical designs in 3D and 2D formats in Solid Edge CAD (Solid Works / Autodesk Inventor)
•Working part of a Project Core team to ensure completion of deliverables as per the agreed project schedule and budgeted hours
•Mechanical design Subject Matter Expert (SME) throughout the lifecycle of a project, including supporting fabrication & assembly with technical queries regarding the design and manufacturability of the design
•Leading the Stage-Gate design reviews prior to and during the client approval processes for drawings and other technical documentation.
•Manage the GA and P&ID approval process with clients, and lead development of ergonomic mock-up reviews
•Development of project BoMs, identification of new suppliers, and interaction with ERP, PLM and the procurement department.
•Supporting the Project Manager in development of project schedule
•Manage change and create Variation Change Requests (VCRs) for submission to Clients.
•Supporting the creation and execution of Factory and Site Acceptance Testing protocols (FAT / SAT)
SKILLS / EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
•Very good knowledge of 3D CAD Software Solid Edge CAD system (Solid Works / Inventor)
•Good knowledge of sheet metal design and flat patterns generation
•Experienced in concept design, detailed design, and producing manufacturing documentation. (general arrangements, details, parts lists, assembly documentation according to GMP)
•Experience of designing for manufacture to enable cost effective and timely fabrication/machining with the ability to drive and support continuous improvement and productivity in everyday work practices
•Excellent interpersonal, communication and time management skills with a proven ability to work directly with Customers and/or to manage self and assigned resources to meet schedule and budget requirements.
•Multitask ability to work with several projects at a time
•Experience of Good Documentation Practices (GDP) as used within the Life Sciences industry
•Knowledge and understanding of ATEX, CE, UL and general machine safety standards
EDUCATION/TRAINING REQUIRED:
•Eng Degree in Mechanical Engineering
•Minimum 5 years' experience in mechanical design of machines

JOB LOCATION
This role is located on-site at the ProSys Technology offices in Carrigtwohill, Co. Cork. Occasional international travel to client meetings maybe required on an ad-hoc basis.
