The Purpose of the Role The Sport and Physical Activity Inclusion Officer will lead the expansion of accessibility, inclusion, and belonging across all Trinity Sport activities and facilities.
The role will develop the student sport pathway from participation to performance to include both mainstream integration sport and disability-sport specific programmes, ensuring all students have equitable opportunities to participate at the level suitable to their ability and/or choice.
The role will also co-ordinate training for staff and students to ensure that all sports clubs and sport activities are inclusive and champion inclusion across the wider Trinity community.

The role will ensure that inclusion is embedded across all Trinity Sport programmes and activities.
The role will work as part of the Sports Development Team, which is responsible for delivering programmes and initiatives aligned with the Trinity College Strategy for Sport and Physical Activity.
The role reports to the Student Sport Pathway Manager and will also work closely with the Disability Service.
Main Responsibilities Inclusive Sport Development Conduct physical and sensory accessibility audits and develop action plans to remove barriers.
Support student sport clubs to implement reasonable accommodations and inclusive practices from sports participation to leadership.
Programme Expansion Assist the Student Sport Pathway Manager in planning and delivering inclusive activities and campaign for underrepresented groups, including disability sport and mental health focused initiatives to support the mental, physical and social wellbeing of students Co-ordinate disability-specific sports programmes (e.g. wheelchair basketball, blind football, inclusive yoga, sensory-friendly swim sessions).
Organise Have a go days to encourage participation and create awareness.
Liase with Student Servicesto connect students to suitable physical activity opportunities, facilities, and clubs.
Liase with the Student Sport Pathway Manager to design supports for para-sport scholarship/elite student athletes.
Student Engagement & Belonging Collaborate with the Disability Service, Trinity Access Programmes (TAP), and Trinity Ability Co_op, and the Dublin University Neurodiversity Society to co-create activities led by disabled students.
Implement belonging-focused measures such as accessible welcome sessions, peer champions, and inclusive communications.
Capacity Building Provide training and guidance to coaches, club officers, volunteers, and relevant staff on inclusive sport and disability awareness.
Develop accessible promotional materials to reach disabled students effectively.
Build capacity through staff and student training and establish a network of sport and physical activity inclusion and welfare ambassadors/officers.
Seek funding and grant opportunities to support programme expansion and equipment requirements.
Collect and analyse participation data, publishing an Annual Sport and Physical Activity Inclusion Report to evidence impact.
Collaborations Working with the Student Sport Pathway Manager liaise with national and local bodies (e.g. Sport Ireland, Active Disability Ireland, Paralympics Ireland, Student Sport Ireland, Local Sports Partnerships and National Governing Bodies) to advance the Universitys EDI and physical activity inclusion objectives.
Develop links and collaborate with internal units or groups and initiatives such as Trinity Access Programme (TAP), Equality, Diversity and Inclusion unit, Healthy Trinity, the Trinity Sport Union, Students Union and other representatives.
General Compile regular reports on the delivery of all activities, ensuring that Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) are tracked.
Any other duties that arise from time to time as directed by the manager or nominee.
Person Requirements The role-holder will require the following knowledge, skills and attributes for successful performance in the role.
Qualifications A third level qualification in sports development, leisure management, adapted physical activity, community development, health promotion or other relevant discipline and/or equivalent work-based experience in the sports/disability sector (essential) Level 1 Coaching or Fitness Qualification (essential) First Aid Qualification Disability Sport Qualification Knowledge Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, e-mail, and the web (essential) Knowledge of the structure, policies, and procedures of the University Knowledge of the third level sport and physical activity sector An understanding of the barriers and motivational issues affecting participation in sport and physical activity of people with disabilities (essential) An awareness and understanding of different models of disability (essential) Experience A minimum of 3 years experience of piloting, developing and delivering sustainable physical activity-based initiatives (essential) Experience in programme monitoring, evaluation and reporting (essential) Experience of recruiting and managing coaches/volunteers, including target setting and performance management Experience of working in a Higher Education environment Experience of working with people who experience barriers to inclusion Skills Excellent reporting and organizational skills (essential) Excellent administrative, communication and IT skills (essential) Excellent interpersonal skills with an ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of audiences (essential) Good organisational skills, ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines while maintaining high levels of accuracy coupled with attention to detail (essential).
