Job Title: Assistant Environmental Manager
Job Description:
As an Assistant Environmental Manager, you will play a key role in supporting the Chief Civil Engineer (CCE) and other teams to ensure that environmental activities are progressed efficiently. Your responsibilities will include:
* Providing leadership assistance and contributing to the efficient functioning of the CCE Environmental Department functions.
* Deputising for the CCE Environment & Sustainability Manager as required and managing department resources and work activities.
* Managing the CCE Environmental Management System to retain ISO14001 certification.
* Maintaining environmental records and statistics in relation to environmental conditions along the railway network.
* Supporting various CCE business units in the development of environmental controls for maintenance works.
* Implementing environmental and biodiversity improvement initiatives.
* Liaising with relevant regulatory bodies and external stakeholders in relation to railway activities and infrastructural improvements.
* Ensuring awareness and compliance with all applicable environmental and planning legislation.
* Organising environmental training programmes to improve environmental awareness across CCE staff.
* Ensuring all works are planned safely in accordance with CCE safety management system and applicable CCE operating procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will have extensive experience in environmental management, holding a minimum Level 8 degree in an environment-related discipline. You will also need at least 10 years' post-graduate work experience and detailed knowledge of Irish and EU environmental and planning legislation. Additionally, you should have knowledge of Environmental Management Systems.
