Financial / Management Accountant – ConstructionThe CompanyA well-established construction group with a strong pipeline of projects is hiring a Financial / Management Accountant to support the Financial Controller across month-end, management reporting, and subcontractor compliance. This is a hands-on role with real exposure to project performance, cashflow, and commercial decision-making.The RoleYou will take ownership of the month-end close and deliver accurate management accounts, while ensuring key construction compliance requirements are met (subcontractor processes, RCT/VAT) and providing clear analysis to support the wider team.Key ResponsibilitiesLead the month-end close: journals, accruals, prepayments, reconciliations and postingsPrepare monthly management accounts (P&L, balance sheet, cashflow) with commentaryVariance analysis vs budget/forecast and KPI reporting (costs, margins, overheads, project trends)Support project accounting: job costing, margin analysis, WIP reporting and cost controlManage subcontractor processes including set-up, compliance checks and payment supportPrepare and submit RCT returns and support subcontractor deductions queriesPrepare VAT returns and ensure timely compliance (construction VAT exposure an advantage)Oversee bank reconciliations, supplier statement reconciliations and payment runs (as required)Support year-end audit, statutory accounts prep and liaison with external accountants/advisorsMaintain fixed asset register and ensure robust financial controls and process improvementsPartner with Project Managers/Commercial teams to ensure timely and accurate reportingRequirementsQualified, part-qualified (ACA / ACCA / CIMA) or strong QBE with relevant construction experience2+ years' experience in a finance role with month-end and management accounts responsibilityExperience with RCT and VAT in an Irish construction environment highly advantageousComfortable working in a fast-paced, operationally-led business and meeting deadlinesStrong attention to detail, with the confidence to challenge and improve processes
