Group Tax Controller The Role This is a key role within the Group Tax team, working alongside senior tax leadership to enhance and maintain a robust tax control framework aligned with best-practice compliance standards. Responsibilities include: Drafting governance documentation and policy guidance on the tax treatment of transactions in clear, accessible language for non-tax colleagues. Collaborating with Finance and Tax teams to implement a best-in-class tax control framework. Main Duties & Responsibilities Tax Manuals & Policy Guidance Develop, update, and maintain tax policy documentation across all tax heads. Tax Controls and Self-Reviews Create and manage a comprehensive tax risk register. Conduct internal audit-style reviews simulating tax authority interventions. Tax Authority Interventions Support Finance and Tax colleagues in managing interactions with tax authorities. Strategic Tax Advice Provide strategic tax insights and identify opportunities for efficiencies and incentives. Transfer Pricing Manage and develop the Groups transfer pricing policies and documentation. International Taxation Support the rollout of standardised tax controls across international operations. Identify and manage permanent establishment risk. Assess IT-related controls as digital reporting requirements evolve. Leadership & Collaboration Demonstrate strong professional ethics and commitment to development in a tax career. Work with stakeholders to identify control weaknesses and propose solutions. Mentor and coach colleagues with limited tax technical experience. Requirements Tax qualification with 3+ years post-qualification experience in a practice or similar environment. Combined tax and accountancy qualification an advantage. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Strong team player with the ability to work independently. Experience with ERP systems is beneficial. Strong Excel skills for data extraction and analysis.
