Morgan McKinley are delighted to be partnering with our client to recruit a highly skilled Senior Buyer responsible for managing the procurement and oversight of materials sourced from approved contract manufacturers. This role is key to ensuring reliable supply, accurate forecasting, and strong vendor performance. The ideal candidate is proactive, detail-oriented, and excels at supplier management and cross-functional collaboration.
Essential Functions
* Issue monthly forecasts to contract manufacturers, including items reaching end of lifecycle and new or temporarily unavailable products, and ensure accurate execution.
* Manage material requirements schedules with contract manufacturers.
* Lead and coordinate all material expedite activities to avoid delays.
* Maintain accurate supplier commitments within the enterprise resource planning (ERP) system.
* Provide customer commitment dates and ensure supply meets all commitments.
* Participate in quarterly business reviews analyzing performance related to quality, delivery, and cost.
* Report quarterly on excess and obsolete inventory held by contract manufacturers.
* Conduct weekly analysis comparing planned shipment dates to customer request dates.
* Manage key performance indicators, including:
* Invoice issue tracking
* Receiving issue tracking
* Material review board activities
* Tracking of engineering change orders and product change orders sent to contract manufacturers
* Accounts payable and accounts receivable status with contract manufacturers
* Inventory sale activity
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
* Ability to work effectively within cross-functional teams and adapt to changing requirements.
* Strong supplier relationship management and negotiation skills.
* Strong analytical ability to evaluate data and adjust schedules in response to changing needs.
* Experience with ERP systems, preferably SAP.
* Ability to interpret engineering change orders, bills of materials, and process flows.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access.
* High degree of accuracy in computer and data entry tasks.
